If you were of age during 9/11, you'll recall how much promotion of bin Laden was on television in the year beforehand. CNN was telegraphing him into the consciousness of Americans who were tuned in, and Cooper was simply boosting that signal and seeing a forewarning inside it, which is more than most adults his age were doing.
