I read that one. I read several cultural revolution memoirs in a row. They share a lot. I came away wondering if I was perhaps seeing the literary equivalent of the Chinese knock-off. You know, one is successful so many imitators follow. I liked this one, lots of details. Shocking the way her father's idealism is, in a way, his undoing. Crazy times the cultural revolution. Best to keep your mouth shut and play ball if you could. There may be a moral in there.
