I am a protestant living in America

I am a protestant living in America.
Most of our chruches around the world have become watered-down club houses that regurgitate the acceptance of homosexuality, open borders, etc.
Sects were created as churches following differing interpretations of the Bible, and I see us all as Christians and sects shouldn't really matter at the end of the day as long as your church isn't commiting blasphemy by ignoring aspects of the Bible or twisting it to mean what you want it to like previously mentioned.
I have an interest in Orthodoxy becuase it's open conviction of Jews, gays, etc.
I don't know much about The Orthodox Chruch and I'm afraid what I have been told is born of ignorance.
Can I get a rundown (as detailed as you'd like) of how The Orthodox Chruch's practices and views differs from other sects? Preferably from an Orthodox Christian themself.

Read 'the Orthodox Way'
Thought it doesn't really matter because Matthew 16:18 and John 21:15-17 make Eastern Orthodoxy invalid.

The Orthodox Church is founded on the teachings of the Apostles and has been guided by their successors for the last two thousand years. The Orthodox Church was, is and always will be, orthodox in her teachings.

>I have an interest in Orthodoxy
I've read this text once every few years for the last 15, and each time it's never failed to blow another hole in my head, collapsing models and replacing with better ones.

My perception of Orthodoxy is transcendent religion, much like pic related. You rise up to understand that Religion is a mammal, just like you and I and the universe are.

Redpill on the differences between Orthodoxy and Catholicism. Protestant heresy seems obvious to me but Cathodoxy seems to agree on almost everything except for some pointless interpretation of the Holy Ghost.

I'm not Christian but I read an article once by an Orthodox Christian who said that the iconoclasm employed by many Christian traditions ended up screwing them. People need icons, and it without healthy images people are drawn to perverted ones.

We understand that everything is material, and yet, like a superposition of subatomic states. Jesus Christ is the hand of God reaching in to the fish tank to let us know he is there. We bit his hand and he pulled out fast, but I can assure you, the architect of this space and we, share a common ancestor with each other in the same way you to your children and parents.

Here's a very popular subreddit that describes a new church/sect movement that might interest you.

I agree. Icons are the comics books of their day, a great way to tell the story of Christ and Christian saints who followed in his footsteps. They're not false idols. They're story telling. We need to stread the Word of God. These pictures are just a way to preserve and spread the story of Christ. The iconoclast movement is a lot like the radical Islamist teachings that forbid images of Muhammad. It's insane to me to ban such a beautiful way to spread and maintain one's faith.
nice cherry pickin'

How is it cherry picking?

Not just a hand reaching in, but if the hand could somehow become a fish itself and swim among us. Plus he opened a door to leave the tank and live forever outside it.

Attached: RESURRECTION-ICON.jpg (520x626, 82K)

Well, cherry picked and mistranslated. The Catholics and then Proddys have used interpretations of those lines to secure the papacy and invalidate the eastern church for centuries. And I'm sure we'll be arguing it for centuries to come too.

Oh yeah. From what I remember, the Orthodox view is that Christ didn't pick Peter himself as the leader. He was using Peter's faith shown at that time as an example of leadership. He also used the pun Peter / Petros to show how faith can lead to a solid stone foundation for God's church on Earth. No one disciple was to be the supreme leader.

You didn't answer how it's cherry picking. Also how is it mistranslated?

What I continue to struggle with and what still boggles my mind, is I spent the early years consuming this story, because I was too stupid to understand up from down. Then take 10 years to try to convince myself that this entire story is straight up dogshit and I can prove that 15 thousand different ways if you'd like.

Then after all that, getting exhausted with how poorly that all performs, and reaching out to God through authentic prayer, and him tapping you on the shoulder by hitting this 3d engine like a bell to prove to you beyond all doubt that he is the one who washes over every rotation and every event of this curious instrument.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me" is the response. You mean to tell me that you play peek-a-boo with agents in this simulation, never quite giving them a full proof that he exists.

I guess my theory is that the agent outside the simulation is just a father, in the same way your parents made you.

I often wonder if the celestial architect answers the Muslims when they call out to it in the same way, and we've got the top 3 religions all doing their own gig, thinking they are god's chosen. But it's not, it's just a bunch of chickens in a coop all doing a stupid dance to try to get the farmer to come back with some seed.

>No one disciple was to be the supreme leader

Rev. 2:27 “Andhe shall rule [poimanei] them with a rod of iron…”
John 21:15-17 “He saith unto him, Feed [Boske] my lambs… He saith unto him,Tend [Poimaine] my sheep… Jesus saith unto him, Feed [Boske] my sheep.”

>Matthew 10:2 “Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first [protos], Simon, who is called Peter…”
The Greek word used in Matthew 10:2 (protos) means first or chief or principal. Since no other numbers are given in the list – and Peter was not the first one who followed Jesus (Andrew was) – this statement is clearly not meant to assign a number to Simon Peter. It is to indicate that he is the chief or leader or principal of the twelve. Matthew is literally saying: The Chief, Peter.

It’s also interesting to note that protos is used to mean “chief” in Matthew 20:27.

Matthew 20:27 “And whosoever will be chief [protos] among you, let him be your servant.”

Yes. Leave it to the Italians to lecture the Greeks on how to translate the ancient Greek.

All Christianity is cucked because it's foundation is literally built off of cuckolding.

Join a Church of God

Luckily My Pastor still sees it as unethical.

It was one the things he spoke about in his last sermon. Like You love your gay friends but you don't have to accept their life style.

He was like... you will NEVER see a gay wedding take place in my church!

Does anybody have the original?

orthodoxy is based. jews don't you knowing about it. come on in : )

Go find your dad, son, ask around in the "Bible Researcher" camp.

The Holy Gospels were written in ancient Greek. That was the lingua franca of the day. The Catholics in Rome assert the supremacy of the Pope over all other head bishops based upon their translation and interpretation of these Gospel verses.

That is the problem of the lack of central authority, splintering and further splintering according to the spirit of the times. That is why heresy was considered such a grave sin from early on.

I gotta admit it. I'm not thrilled at how crazy how much my church obsesses over the relics of saints. I enjoy some of the practice, but even I think it seems like a bunch of dorks and yokels obsessing over collectible items. Then again, I'm an anime dork with a bunch of waifu statues, so maybe I'm a hypocrite.

Still more centralized than the balkanized mess of Protestant churches. I find it a happy medium. And it at least can trace its roots back to the original church fathers.
