SR-72 hypersonic spyplane/bomber

There's already an entire fleet of these things, isn't there?

If you've seen it, we're already 20 years ahead of that.

>There's already an entire fleet of these things, isn't there?
If you believe we "retired" the F-117 and revealed the B-2 without having a replacement for both, you're retarded.

what does this do that a satellite can't do?

Probably not, TR3B's? yes.
One is a fighter that has been replaced, the other a Bomber still in service.
What are your talking about.
If its a bomber, drop bombs. But given the myriad of methods of getting nukes to their target already, I don't see what purpose it would serve.

>blows your piece of shit "concept" plane right out of the sky
what now americans?

No the prompt global strike idea is best served via existing ICBMs , possibly with hypersonic glider reentry vehicles.

idk, but I built an SSTO version of it in KSP

It's all about the SB3-Ghoul now anons.

The worst part is biological / psychological warfare.

It looks less high tech than 71s engine somehow

Seems odd, shouldn't the ramjet have the divergent duct nozzle

Duh

Maybe, but just to have something to give LHM and friends money for. Long range stealth bombers are obsolete with modern missle technology and ballistic missles.

I’m more interested in those massively hypersonic G L I D E R S.

Oh, and these things too.

some of you anons build nuke bunkers inawoods, some of you target practice for the boogaloo, some of you study chemistry textbooks to learn how to make things boom, and others of you apply your own special talents for TSHTF and TEOTWAWKI and DOTR.

me, im doing none of that. instead, im out here in the desert leveling up my amateur rocketry skills, so that when WW3 starts, i can fire my payload into low orbit, hit a satellite and explode chafe all over. im going to trigger Kessler Syndrome, which you should google if you never jeard of it. i figure, if i can knock out global satellite telecomms on day 1, then WW3 becomes a very different kind of war than what TPTB expected. there wont be any air force, mavy, submarine nor drones fighting WW3, because they all depend on satellite uplink, and all the satellites will be ground into space dust. i like to think of it as giving you little guys a fighting chance against the American Empire.

the sr71 was unhittable by missiles because of its speed, this thing is even faster.

Solid propellant missiles slow down drastically as they burn through the fuel. As they reach the end of useful range the missiles are completely burned out and just coasting on momentum.
There's absolutely no way SAMs could catch a hypersonic plane riding 15 miles high. The best russia has hits mach 3.5 and is "planned" to upgrade to mach 5, even with a pre-emptive launch the missile has to travel ~40-60 miles and runs out of fuel before getting close to the plane.

Sorry, nope.

Yes, and their successor is already in operation.

Change direction.
Think of it as a low-altitude x-35.

Loiter and drop bombs, slower speed and lower altitude allows for higher resolution, possibly even better cameras.

i never saw this commercial. what was the big shitsorm about

Can't hit a satellite with a bike lock, retard

What if they are so good at stealth that even their creators can't find them?

lasers man, friggin' lasers!

By the time we find out about it it’s obsolete.

Give money to lockheed probably kek

Sat recon is limited to particular times of day, and is more or less predictable.

As for whether the US is operating a long range high-supersonic or even hypersonic reconnaissance aircraft, manned or unmanned, I'd say look for the following:

1) Really big fucking runways, the L/D ratio on these is worse than bad, at landing and takeoff speeds.

2) Fuel will not be normal jet fuel (special kerosene), rather look for development programs involving methane as an aircraft fuel, it's handling, and storage.

That things already retired

Anything the us air force has released was already in combat for years. Wouldn't surprise me

I'd imagine 'sniff' for hidden nuclear sites and chemical sites in denied airspace, among the other things people have said.

Or something extremely similar

Sarin, VX, Anthrax = biological warfare
Porn, liberal ideology, muh russian bots = psychological warfare
Those are two completely different things.

why would anyone need this when you have hypersonic missiles
a pilot wouldnt be able to actively fly that thing on its top speed anyway

Do you think all of the are on the same hight?

>instagram age
>wikileaks age
>empowered womenz and minorities age

There is a “fleet” of powerpoint presentations of this stuff, yes.

Ask the Yugos about this.

That was a F-117A, they shot down the SR71 never took a hit, i think there was one close call over Russia.but it was literally faster than any missile, they would just throttle up if they got a warning.
