I agree with you. Jodorowski's stuff for example is all ugly to me, vigorously so, because his inner striving is not towards something European. But every stiving, gestalt, racial aesthetic, whatever we call it, is fueled by universal raw creative/generative energy. That talent and energy is evident and abundant even in the most degenrate abstract expressionism.
