It's based on what people I know in Italy have said. Salvini may have done good policies but he's something of an opportunist as well (you can see the history of Lega to know that). He made a bad political decision. It's a stretch to say any poor choices made in politics is because Netanyahu is secretly involved in bringing him down.

And it would make little sense either since Salvini was openly very pro Israel. Much like the other populists are, it's the other ones who are luke warm on Israel and especially Netanyahu (the EU is pro open borders, the populists allign with Netanyahu because he is anti immigration)
