In all honesty, While there is a lot of strategy one needs to know for rugby, the sheer number of plays and formations I needed to memorize as a starter for an 8A public high school football team in central florida was just absolutely absurd. Our playbook was thicker than most of my textbooks in high school, and I had to know every play, formation, blocking scheme, and also be able to adapt to what the opposing team was doing on a whim requires a hell of a lot of quick thinking and wherewithall to master.
It's WAY harder than it looks.
