You have to understand, Lwow is 770 years old, and was within a Polish state for almost 500 years (majority of its history) and had a Polish majority population for 600+ years (also majority of its history) even after the partitions of Poland in 1795 until Poland regained its independence in Galicia in 1918-19.

Casimir III the Great receaved receaved legally the lands of Galicia and Volhynia by a downward agreement in 1340 after his nephews death, Jerzy/Yuri Boleslaw II of Galicia-Volhynia. Those lands were annexed in 1349 LEGALLY. Lwow then had already a large Polish majority 100 years prior, which became quickly a majority after Caismir incorporated these lands into Poland. Lwow was built mostly out of wood then, but Casimir gave rebuilt it on Magdenburg law and with the rynek moved few hundred meters to the original settlement and whole mapping of the old towns street layout was done by his architects. Lwow, especial the old town, has predominantly Polish latin infulence and has been one of the major Polish cultural centers for centuries, besides Krakow, Warsaw and Poznan etc.

Stalin taking this city from Poland and removing its Polish inhabitants who basically built up the city, as other cities in western Ukraine like Tarnapol or Stanislawow/Ivano-Frankivsk, was a great injustice done to us.
