No, most of the things he was doing were perfectly safe to do.
Water in the cooling pools serves as a radiation shield, so by swimming at the surface you're not being exposed to any more radiation then the people standing on the walkways next to it.
Also unprocessed uranium ore contains only a tiny amount of the fissile U235 (less then 0.1%), so licking it or even swallowing small amounts doesn't expose you to much radiation.
The man knew what he was doing and understood radiation much better then the average person does, which allowed him to do these "stunts" that are actually far less impressive then they appear to someone who doesn't know shit about radiation.

Not really. As I've said before water makes for pretty decent radiation shield (that's the whole point of keeping spent rods at the bottom of the pool)
