You have to keep in mind that friction between Czechs and Germans pre-dates ww2. It actually goes back a few hundred years - ww2 was just the capstone to a lot of existing resentment. Thomas Sowell's book Conquest and Cultures has a whole section on the Slavs which talks about the Czechs a lot if you want an interesting read.

Anyway, I might be outing myself a bit but fuck it. Years ago as part of a class internship requirement I worked at a Czech consulate/embassy for a few months (I wont say which one). Since I had some Czech heritage and nobody really pays a lot of attention to smaller countries like them they were actually stoked somebody took an interest in them and they were happy to have me.
I just remember a lot of bitching about Germans because at the time they were trying to get travel visa restrictions between the US and CZ lifted but were having a hard time because of concerns about 'terrorism'. One of my bosses remarked "Oh sure, they'll lift the visa requirements for Germany even though all the terrorists come from Germany anyway." They were pretty mad and frustrated about it.

None of my Czech relatives ever liked Germans too much either, but they hated communists way more.

Take WW1 for example.
Czechs and Slovaks are part of Austria empire, so they are conscripted to fight for them.
They'd almost always surrender to the Allies whenever they get the chance and then volunteer to go back and kill Germans/Austrians as members of the British/French/Russian armies.
They were such a pain in the ass and so effective that eventually the Germans and Austrians put a bounty on them paid straight up cash to anyone who could kill a Czechslovak legionnaire.

Well, there is bigger picture to the story you are omitting or not aware of. Czechoslovakia only exists because free masons were in charge since its creation (and US Congress namely). Lets not forget true purpose of WW1 was - to deal final blow to monarchs. So htye have been shit stirring "nationalism" in Austria for the most part of 1800s. any way, after ww1 Czechoslovak legions and their role in chasing Czar's gold in Russian territory is really a proof who was in charge of them all along.....;-)
