Is this a company problem, a government problem or a personal problem? Obviously you need somebody to grill your whopper, but whos to blame when wages can't pay the bare minimum for a persons sustenance?
Minimum wage could cover the cost of living if it had actually kept up with inflation. The fact that it hasn't is due to politicians allowing unfettered immigration, causing downward pressure on wages. The fact that the minimum wage is higher than ever, on paper, doesn't account for the loss of 95% of our purchasing power.

The cost of living doesn't include technology or rent in a well to do suburb.
We have the capacity to automate the food industry stem to stern, every part of the pipeline from the ground to your stomach.
But we don't, because human labor is prohibitavely cheap relative to expensive engineering equipment to do the job.
That's why I'm in support of raising Minimum wage as high as you can make it. 25 dollars is good, 50 dollars an hour even better.

Minimum wage is imposed irrespective of people's actual financial situation, family size, location, dependency, etc. It's as if we were to say, let's mandate all people to have a wage that you can feed three kids on, and live in a city condominimum. It's stupid.
Current minimum wage of $7.25 can absolutely pay a persons' subsistence expenses, if that person is single and shares rooms.

minimum wage is meant for kids( starting at 16) to build experience then they save up enough money after 2 years then transition to either higher education or another job (and repeat)

Minimum wage should cover the cost of MINIMAL living. IE a small one bedroom shitty apartment and food and that's fucking it.
Research has shown that when minimum wage can't cover this, crime skyrockets since the minimum wage earners must find other ways to survive. So they turn to leeching off the system, mooching off others, and theft/drugs/gangs.
But more than minimum living? Hell no. Minimum wage is a necessary evil to keep the free market from creating too many beligerant losers. I personally think the proper standard is one which allows for a stay at home mother to raise 3 kids, frugally, but with healthcare and solid savings for retirement. The reason I think the minimum should cover this is because it is the minimum required to keep society going at replacement levels without importing the 3rd world. The fucking Federal Reserve. Monetary policy has cause the price of assets to skyrocket and purchasing power to get destroyed. This is acceptable for boomers because they own tons of stock and homes, but for you, it means you'll probably never own anything unless you already do, but it'll costs you 5x as much of your labor as your parents put in for it. The idea that food service is unskilled makes no sense to me. Sure, fast food takes little more than a pulse to do good enough, but all other types of food service are another story entirely. It takes skill to consistently produce exceptional food. The fine dining industry is dying right now because talented cooks can't afford to live, mostly because this idea that what they do is menial has seeped into all areas of society. Obviously mass immigration doesn't help. Just saying, people are going to want to eat out in a white ethnostate, the cooks should definitely be paid well.

For the most part "minimum wage jobs" are not intended for people living independently. They're for highschool kids still living with their parents, bored housewives looking for more pocket money, and (maybe) fixed-income folks looking to supplement their existing budget.
The problem that's arised is that automation, productivity gains, and an oversupply of labor (yay, feminism!) has eroded the the growth/availability of "real jobs" and caused wage stagnation to the point that even "real jobs" do not cover the cost of living (in the old sense of a single income feasibly supporting a median family).
Rather than raising minimum wage, per se, I'd cross reference IRS and HHS data and, if an employee is collecting any form of means-based assistance, bill their employer.
This helps with the problem of, e.g., Walmart underpaying employees and guiding them apply to for food stamps and sheeit to basically use gibs to subsidise their labor costs.
