Marx was mostly correct with his concerns that capitalism unchecked would become increasingly fragile. The process of commodity generation is the great annihilator as stable social relationships are torn apart in order to facilitate greater and greater levels of commodity production.
What Marx didn't anticipate was the down-stream effects this would have on western culture. This shredding and re-aligning of social relationships into progressively more complicated networks centered around commodity production has completed dismantled any conception of a shared purpose or place within a larger social context. This is the core of modernity, a society that has no narrative or constitution beyond it's immediate conditions and yet keeps pushing on into the future anyway, a future it can't ever reach because it's not going anywhere, there's no frontier left to pursue, the only thing left to do is to continue to ramp up commodity production and accelerate the process that is hollowing us out. Anything that could serve as a source of external context, such as family, community, tribe, religion, social solidarity, class, etc is on the chopping block, and what they are replaced by is a more efficient commodity-production process. Life in our era is defined by one's relationship to lifeless commodities, and the only structuring imperative in advanced capitalist societies is a general cultural command: "Enjoy!". Every other possible cultural imperative has been corroded in the name of production.
Without an external social narrative to participate in, people turn inwards and use their own personal story to structure their worldview. But self-analysis is a bottomless pit, there is always room to review and re-review one's own life, to go back and ascribe more detail, more meaning, and more structure to one's own internal world. And because people who live in the core of the commodity-production process are perpetually seeing more and more of their world get ripped apart and re-arranged into production-increasing alignments, the sense of purposelessness is constantly increasing, which drives a desire to add more structure and more narrative. This feedback loop forms the core of identity politics.
These people probably do not feel gender in a traditional way, because they have no understanding of what a traditional gender would look like. What is actually happening is that hard-line gender roles are a limit of productive capacity, so they've been corroded to the point wherein one's gender is entirely built on how one presents oneself to others, with no connection to any larger social participation or imperative. These people feel the gap between what they are told is there (gender) and what they actually experience (there's no genders, or alternatively gender is a pointless and meaningless distinction, which at this point it almost is) and faced without a clear external explanation and a contradictory cultural imperative, they turn inwards and analyze their own life. When they do so, they see a confusing and inconsistent mess, because there is no essence to the ego, it simply responds to external stimuli, and as such they have "felt" both genders, or no gender. So they come to the conclusion that they just don't have a gender, or maybe they have multiple genders, or maybe they have a third gender that doesn't exist in English, or whatever. They then add that to their ever-expanding identity structure, and where they had a question mark they now have a sign and that "gap" in their self-understanding is filled.
And then the market picks up on this new aspect of identity, packages it into a commodity and sells it back to them. And they respond positively because they feel seen; they feel that the culture as recognized their new construction and responded accordingly by allowing them to enjoy! again; the market responds by saying that chaos in their internal gender identity is not chaos at all, in fact it's a special and valuable addition to their identity, and they are correct and valuable for having done so. The story goes on, and the individual continues climbing the ladder to nowhere, so that the machine can continue building the ladder to nowhere.
That's whats going on with all this shit. It's not cynical. If it was cynical we could have an "emporer has no clothes" moment and that would be the end of it. The actual problem is lot more morbid and depressing because these types genuinely believe that they are building out a new taxonomy that will make sense of life under modernity, and if they just expand the network of signs wide enough, they can finally understand their own story which will then translate into meaning in the external world. What they're actually doing is staring into a looking glass, asking the machine to recognize their complexity, and then feeling good when the machine parrots their complexity back to them.
I was hoping some smart people would comment and discuss this. I kind of think this argument applies to a lot of other stuff too. Like capeshit, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Hunger Games, vidya games which gives meaning and a shared story for the onions.

While the capitalist machine is the tool through which this is all happening, it really is the Jews who are operating this tool and facilitating the process you described, as well as other processes.
