A few weeks ago in one of these threads an user made a post claiming that in the scene where the costume shop owner's daughter runs away from him and hides behind Tom Cruise, a little "101" pops up on the screen.
Looks and sounds fake but another user posted a screencap of running the film through editing software and finding the very same thing on his old dvd copy. Anybody know about this?

What an odd little detail.
I'm sure most of you are too young to remember, but the scene with Leelee was one of the main promotion points for the movie as it was being released. A lot of talk about how provocative it was to have her in underwear, yet it was clear it was mostly an excuse to show an underage girl in see through panties in primetime.
Leelee was also heavily marketed based on the scene, doing late night talk show appearances based on what amounted to little more than a bit part in the movie.
101 generally refers to first year introduction courses in college and university. So in a sense the audience was being made to learn a new norm with that scene : that underage girls are now a commodity.
