But I'm under no illusions as to what gets out into the fracking water that hydraulically breaks the shale. I don't know how they do it in aus, but I would definitely not drink the frack water out here... I've seen the tankers, holding ponds for used water and so on. They need to figure out a way to not waste so much freshwater in the process. If your dealing with a competent company most of those risks can be averted. Plus, on the off chance theres an issue with your wellwater in the immediate vicinity its easily treated (also keep in mind that minor increases in soilgas are hamrless to vegetation). Altho id personally recommend rainwater over well water anyway as natural condensation is the best filtration process and its free. I literally work for one of the largest oilfield service companies fracking. The nastiest thing we use is FR or friction reducer. We do use biocide and corrosion inhibitors. We don't use acid anymore because it's not cost efficient. Probably the worst is the produce water which is basically recycled water which flows back when the well goes into production. It's just heavy saltwater for the most part. That's about it.

Aye, we have a holding tank for the rainwater but it'll be quite a pain in the ass to pipe it into the existing plumbing. We just have the tank as a backup for the gardens if we don't have rain for a couple weeks or if (((anything))) else should happen and we lose power. we just sunk the well to 320 ft into the aquifer several years ago from 110ft to ensure a water supply for the future. the water is excellent quality plus I put a reverse osmosis filter along with a sediment filter into the system as well.
But back to fracking, I have done some research into it,but I'm just not in a terrible enough position to pursue it. plus it isn't really booming like it originally was but that might change with this whole aramco scandal going on...
