I’ve been having a debate with a friend of mine regarding the nature of NPC’s. I believe that NPC’s don’t have what could be described as a soul or what I call “the spark of life”. That is the ability to think critically and generate original thought. Where we disagree is my friend believes these are learned traits. He thinks that NPC’s can be woken up. My argument is that like automatons you can re-program an NPC but they will always be running a script. They can parrot stuff you teach them and from the outside even seem “woken up” and “red pilled” but on the inside they’re continuing to have no real original thoughts and can be easily reprogrammed by someone else. Only someone born with the spark of life can truly and genuinely break free and stay free from the world controllers. My friend obviously thinks otherwise. He thinks the world will change when a sufficient number of NPC’s are awoken. I believe the world will change when a sufficient number of PC’s give up on this goal and work only on identifying and recruiting their own.
I was just thinking about this today. I day-trade so I watch a lot of business news. Today (((they))) we’re discussing streaming services. Legitimately arguing over services that are making money off showing reruns of “friends” and “the Big Bang theory”

People are also social beings and that can keep them tethered to being an NPC, because they do not want to acquire a pariah status or lie to friends, family, and loved ones about who they are in order to maintain appearances.
If you ever become close friends with an NPC you can easily see if there are threads that are capable of being frayed and pulled at until they steadily unravel. This is a very personal process and requires actual finesse and care for the individual. It's simply easier to declare all NPC's as lost causes because you don't want to get your hands dirty.

What’s the farthest you think you can wake up an NPC? Say I do everything you’ve said. Take it slow, be incredibly careful, work hard to gain an NPC’s trust and not destroy their whole universe. This sounds like a process that would take years and what’s the end result? Would I have someone who now thinks critically and can generate original thoughts and actually contribute to and even innovate in higher pursuits? (Of course, search space is enormous, but you can use some techniques like directed search with neural networks etc.) So, you can be literal scripted NPC and still be more or less creative, and pass all kind of IQ/Turing tests. However, it's just the way your brains work, and this alone will not make you self-aware person. In my opinion, the key difference is self-awareness, because it's just something which does not belong to this material world, and I doubt that any script, computer algorithm or mathematical theory can reproduce it.

Ive always been hard to control ever since i was a child. Its gotten to the point where ive become openly antagonistic to the majority of people i encounter. Do i hate them because theyre NPCs? I have an internal monologue for sure but im struggling with the concept of true original thought.
It is not IQ. It is agency. Plebs lack the agency to recognize when their base impulses influence the mode and content of their thoughts. They have no, or significantly lacking, control over how their emotions influence their demeanor. The real question here is whether they have forfeited their ability for self-reflection and mental sovereignty in the interest of securing comfort, safety, and entertainment (go along to get along sort of thing) or that they simply never had such ability in the first place.
From there the question is, does such ability/inability reflect the presence or absence of a soul. If it the case that their base impulses having such control over their thoughts and behavior is a matter of education/conditioning, the lack of intelligence, or the lack of a soul, matters not because in all three of those circumstances they are still less than human and more like animals.

The problem is in the setting in which you can talk to the npcs. They are programmed to ignore things when in public settings and should you start convincing an npc its programming is faulty then the hive mind is agitated and npcs in the vicinity start to come and harass you.
Look at the antifa riots for a perfect example, some youtubers like liberty hangout will attempt to interview these npcs and maybe find 1 out of 100 that is willing to talk to see why they are doing the things they are doing and immediately you see the horde lock on and start harassing until its no longer viable.
When the npcs gather in mass and there is only a few cops that are "keeping order" you can see the cops disregard their own programming of maintaining the law in order to satisfy the horde.

i spend alot of time ruminating on this concept. I agree with you to a degree.
I do alot of evangelism (not the topic of debate) and witnessing for Christ, and I always fear that the people that enter into a reltionship with God dont actually do it. They're not liars, just NPC's.
I fear that even though they say they know God, read, and even change their behaviors sometimes, they are just doing what they're told.
My current standpoint: most people have an extremely low "spark" (intuition, creativity, free ability). These people are the underlings that are to be cared for and respected by "us". Treated well, knowing of their lower abilities. They are the sheep. The input GREATLY affects the output.
Then there are the freemen. All thoughts are original, the mind is free, the will is relatively unhindered. I refer to it as unchained. The input DOES NOT greatly affect our output. We are capable of breaking down substance and concepts into "matter" and reforming it into what we want, regardless of the original state (to an extent). We are influencers, while remaining relatively uninfluenced.
Non NPC's dont have favorite colors, either. Colors are just different moods and feelings, manifested as a visible reminder of assigned said mood/feeling. Some days I like red. Some, Teal. Some, purple.

What so far I’ve learned is that there’s a massive comfort zone lies in the NPC sphere. They can generate between and around that limited sphere, but for the obvious reasons that they fear social outcasts than break free is what keeps them in that circle.
