Nuclear Power

What is Jow Forumss opinion on nuclear power?

It's time to live off the land again, and stop depending on fossil fuels to suit our unsustainable lifestyles.

useful, but not for large power grids

I support thorium

not even China can figure out what to do with the waste so it's kind of fucked desu

It's the future. I know someone in the field that has informed me that we will soon be encasing nuclear waste in steel boxes and blasting them into space.

If you believe climate change will destroy the earth in 11 years you should be clamoring for nuclear power. It is the carbon free solution that will allow us to stop using fossil fuels.

Sell waste to shithole countries. Stuff Africa with the shit. They can reuse it

doesn't exist

thorium and breeder reactors produce far less waste. If there wasn't so many regulations on nuclear we would have them by now. All it takes is one fucking bill.

based and redpilled

>not even China can figure out what to do with the waste so it's kind of fucked
he fell for the waste meme

Jow Forums like

not great, not terrible

No losers its the more advanced reactors that are being developed right now that can use spent fuel to power them. There are a few varieties of these types, called Fast Reactors, that don't moderate (slow down) neutrons in the core for reactivity like in today's reactors. Instead they let fast neutrons convert other materials (used fuel and isotopes of U/Pu) into fresh fuel basically through the entire life of the reactor.
The problem is solved its just too expensive and taboo in the US for these to get going

It's fake. Name one nuclear plant not built on a major body of water. It's just hydroelectric power.

Those regulation exist because (((big oil))) doesn't like the competition.
As long as politicians rely on oil companies to fund their election campaigns it sadly won't change.

It is the best counter besides GSM for climatefags, say it is the cleanest and cheapest source of energy. If it explodes, just say it was a domestic terrorist attack

Not viable yet.
Once they are they'll be good.

Explain nuclear submarines/aircraft carriers

Because it needs a steam turbine to convert the heat to power, burger.

That's actually a pretty brilliant idea. Too bad they'll fall back out of orbit.

It would also cause far more pollution in the form of spent rocket fuel than it removes from the earth.

Nuclear waste isn't even a real problem.
The quantity is so tiny you can easily store it indefinitely.

bait
fell for the bait
yes, but you also fell for the bait

Or drop them deep into the ocean. Tons of exposed uranium down there anyway.

Its literally made for large power grids you quintuple nigger

This

not economical

Nuclear "waste" (it not really waste) isn't uranium.
It's a mix of pretty much every element on the periodic table, that' why it's hard to process with current technology.
Could become very valuable in the future though, for example to treat cancer or to do scientific research.

Nuclear power plants are the best means of powering a first world country's electrical grid. They must be properly built and maintained.

>cheapest power
>most stable power
>cleanest power
>easiest to dispose of
>easiest to acquire materials for
>effectively fixed cost
>not dependent on any foreign country for long term use
yeah ok there oil company. ok there.

yup.

It's expensive to build because all the red tape
