You can see how he impacted his people enough for them to change a holy song for him. This shows that thought of him like a savior. Which in a way is true, Germany was ruined after WW1 and it didn't help that the Treaty of Versailles was created. Hitler wanted all ethnic Germans to identify themselves with a glorious historic past based on descendants who worked off the land.
