Europe is neither a cultural monolith, nor a continent of completely fragmented cultures. Every culture in Europe is related to its neighbours. There's a complicated network of influences going across the whole continent.

For example even Russian culture has been influenced by French culture and viceversa. Romania has basically been created by France and its allies in the 19th century. And we used to be a Francophone country until recently, I think this is fading away though.

Then there are Germanic peoples which also influenced each other.

It's all a very complicated equilibrium of nations, like a difficult family.
