Yes this is a small community. More rural places would have individuality wells. Trona has electricity and water because of mineral processing.

I don't have a problem with living in BFE, but there are a couple problems with Trona that kill that idea for me.

Problem one is it's distance from groceries other than a local shop. It's going to drive grocery prices up because it's going to cost more in fuel to get it out there. Plus, gas prices out there are going to be higher than average.

Problem 2 is that the only work would be at the chemical processor or Borax mine. Life revolves around those two places, so either you work there or you work service for it.

Problem 3 is that despite being in the middle of nowhere, Trona is still in California and subject to California law. That alone kills any desire for me to live there. I've personally considered places like Golden Valley Arizona, and some of the smaller towns along the 15 in Utah like Beaver, Nephi, and Fillmore. They would be far better "Middle of Nowhere" locations than Trona.

Black pop in Cali is about 4%.
