Well I did a lot of readings about transplants especially since I had a family member who received an organ from another family member -- they were siblings but he still needed to take immunosuppression drugs for life. He was better post organ transplant, but we really need to look into how to grow from scratch.
For face transplant, I read it's controversial because there is no health benefit, it's not life saving like a heart or a lung or livers and kidneys, and no recipient had lived for over 10 years.
I will never have plastic surgery but I like reading about it, and it's not just vanity, there is always a need for reconstruction surgery due to accident.
South Korea seem to be the best at this so far, though it's driven by vanity. They have packages with aftercare included, maybe mandated, with high oxygen facility.

Technically your correct bome marrow transplants don't need the same race, but it does need genetic similarly so the body doesn't reject it. However people of the same race or close family (parents/siblings) are good donors, most adults with no living family do get same race organ transplants.
