Battle Rifle General - everyone gets along edition ITT post your battle rifles, discuss battle rifles, builds, optics etc.
At the moment I am waiting on a locking shoulder to be sized, but I really look forward to taking this rifle out for the first time. Does anyone have the Fereday and Son's chest rig? If so, how do you like it?
STG 58. Original Rhody upper. Once "destroyed" . Welded to work "again ". Aswell as pallet of ammo for my bois
Jordan Robinson
Sweet, did you build it yourself?
Wyatt Powell
Should I get a DSA? Are voyagers that bad or should I stick with the high dollar SA58?
Jeremiah Anderson
For anyone who are exprienced with building FALs. When I was head spacing mine I used a 7.62 NATO gauge for 1.6355 as my min go gauge. Evidently the recommended spec for the min is 1.632 or so. Is it still safe to use this when sizing for my locking shoulder? Its still in specs but I guess I'm just a bit worried. A friend of mine likes his. I would have considered getting one myself, but I didn't like the fixed rear sight.
Chase Sullivan
So i'm trying to put together an 18" upper for my SR25, and the only option seems to be Genesis CNC....which just straight up doesn't ship or respond to emails anymore.
Do Mega Arms uppers work with the SR25? I see conflicting reports, the company itself says it's only compatible with their lower. I feel like I'm going to have to order an Upper from Knight's themselves and then switch out the components to fit the build i have in mind.
What state are you in? It is looking pretty nice either way.
Jace Reyes
CT. Rifle is fine in current state, just very heavy and not terribly portable with a 24" barrel. Really want to put together an 18" upper for more of an all purpose build. Would switch the stock back to the A2 if I could get one together.
Justin Gutierrez
How do the big 5 rank in accuracy between a typical AR10, PTR91, FAL, M1A, and SCAR17?
Hey guys, I guess I'm a bit paranoid, but this is my first time building. Does my breach look okay? It's not misaligned right, and these dings won't bring any issues?
Shit them expensive. Do they ever have stripped uppers? Everything is the correct dimensions otherwise? Does it at least include a charging handle and BCG? If so then the price makes more sense, didn't particularly want the forward assist and would switch the rail out for a URX II though.
Thank ya, it's a big boy
Brandon Jenkins
1. Scar17 2. M1a (depending on make) 3. FAL and PTR91 tied the AR10 is a wild card due to it being so varied, it can go from the worst to the best
Eli Robinson
>Fereday and Son's chest rig? swooped a poo-in-loo clone and it was good enough. the real deal should be quality >bare bones >can find 4 or 5 mag versions
If I remember right, you headspace 7.62 NATO weapons with larger size for reliability, the tighter headspace of 1.632 should be fine. Double check with some of the guys on the fal files as they know what they're doing. I recall however that 1.632 is where I headspaced my FAL build and I still have all my fingers.
Blake White
You need CH, bcg, and LMT barrel with the stripped uppers. If you bought into the SR25 game and are looking for budget options, you played yourself.
Lincoln Kelly
SR25 is my only option in my state anyway. I guess I could have gotten a Sendra build but that's not terribly realistic to begin with, and it's documentation compared to the SR25 is very poor.
Not necessarily looking for budget options, but really if I'm going to be fucking around with a 1k+ stripped upper to begin with I just may as well buy a $3500 complete upper direct from KAC.
Luis White
The breech of the barrel should NOT be bottoming out on the inside of the receiver. ONLY the shoulder of the barrel should be touching the front external face of the receiver. I don't know what those marks are on the barrel breech but make sure that bitch ain't bottomed out, otherwise your barrel torque and timing won't be correct.
Adrian Williams
You can actually get the rear sight replaced, they just won't let you buy the rifle with the normal Belgian sight on.
I got mine replaced with additional rail to match the rail over the reicever to run pop ups.
It would be like $2000 for everything you need for an LMT upper. The complete SR25s will work.
Might see if larue will sell you an OBR upper
Austin Long
Yeah but mine is head spaced to 1.6355. Basically I accidentally ordered the US/M14 standard gauges, which the go is close enough imo. I did check on FAL Files and they said I should be fine too. I'm just a bit worried I guess. Oh yeah, I have that small gap between the barrel and receiver. I guess that was what I was a bit worried about. I built imbel on imbel though so it seems that there weren't any fitting issues. Oh I see. I wonder why they won't just ship them with the adjustable sight.
Wyatt Wright
Any options that don't have a forward assist out there? I'm emailing Les Baer, Larue, and a few other places now.
Anthony Smith
Most dont have FAs Calling works best, for reals
Ryder Morales
I think it has to do with the Voyager model being budget FAL they won't let you put anything on it.
Think about it this way, it's designed to get FAL into poor fags hands but they can get upgrades down which DSA can make more money on. It expands their market and allows for a slightly continued stream.
I'll start making calls after I pay the Government their shitty 17 grand next month. Just getting my ducks in a row for now.
Lots of good help here, so much appreciated all. I feel like Les Baer will end up being my best option.
Any input on BCG's and Barrels? I was looking at this one, but it's a relatively new company so user input is limited (but good) at this point. Haven't looked at BCG's at all yet but I imagine Toolcraft is a solid choice?
Those companies are going to sell you complete uppers, not stripped.
Cameron Taylor
I was thinking I may end up getting a complete upper from Les Baer anyway, their shit looks pretty good. Anyway, doesn't hurt to inquire.
Jason Adams
My first and likely only battle rifle: DSA: STG 58 Parts on an LMT receiver. I've since added a West German G1 sling. Looking for a Trilux SUIT to top it off.
My negros Hey man if you can get a nice functional rifle at a price point, got on you. I really like that sleek hand guard.
Joseph Gonzalez
I got really lucky, I was cruising gunbroker at work and found one for sale in NJ with less than 50rs through it. I'd been looking for any FAL for so long, I happily paid the $1350 asking.

>cant tell if srs

Getting my PTR 91 in soon, very excite
Tyler Long
My buddy needs a car and wants to trade me his FAL for my old car (car worth around 1k). It’s an Enterprise build on a Dan Coonan receiver. Original matching STG58 kit (bipod, carry handle). The barrel is fairly worn but it’s an original Austrian barrel. Is this a fair trade? Not big on FALs but this might be a good way into one.
Christopher Anderson
Nice what model did you order? I kind of wish I still had mine.
>bipod and carry handle on a PTR how hard are those to find? I might actually get a PTR if those aren't unicorn-tier rare.
Chase Green
I don't know how different they may be but Ian McCullum (Forgotten Weapons) built a CETME-L. I hear it isn't such an easy thing to do as compared to building an FAL.
Benjamin Edwards
Been waiting a while for this thread. My state’s laws are getting worse and im looking to get a battle rifle for my collection while i still can. Out of these rifles which is the least popular or will have the most collectors value. FAL PTR-91 .308 AR M1A
Yeah I just bought a part kit for like 150$, theyre very similar to PTR, G3 rifles but I can't find any info on youtube about building one from a parts kit
Landon Nguyen
thanks user
Asher Cook
I think I will make mine a para or just build one eventually. How is the recoil and stock in comparison? Also where do I get that FAL key chain?
Liam Rivera
Well I guess for 150 you can't go too wrong. If anything I am sure you can find a gunsmith who can put it together for you.
Haven't shot it in that config yet but when I had it like pic related it felt like a nice long push rather than the stout 308 babbyhands complain about NEET in patch thread makes them
>be dsa during awb >gotta perm attach legal md >too lazy to park entire barrel, just perm attach then park everything >awb dies >i buy gun >remove shitty md >not gonna pay to repark entire gun and there's no other way to get a matching finish so just clean surface rust now and then
Why not just spray paint it for now, that sounds awful
Lincoln Garcia
I've thought about a light coat of silver-gray but it'd look like shit regardless I paid 1k for the rifle as it sits in that pic so I'm just gonna leave it as an ugly mutt. Builds will be treated much better
Connor Cooper
It would keep the rust off.
Daniel Walker
It's just surface rust. The gun has a bunch of places where it forms after a while from where I've rubbed the park off in different places, it'll never be truly rust free so it doesn't matter anyways
I like stockpiling the same rifle at my multiple homes so that I don't have to worry about training for a bunch of different platforms, also, hunting with a buddy who has an identical weapon is always fun
Chase White
>Buying DSA
Your first mistake
Jose Morales
Why? Are they really worth the extra $500? It seems like I could get 2 Century clones for the price of a single PTR91
Daniel Roberts
Yeah, the QC of PTR is vastly higher than Century's.
