I'm not sure if I'll end up getting more than 1 1911 down the road outside of things like different calibers, which I don't think are interchangeable. I'm also not huge on 1911s, but I like them enough that I'd want something a little more than GI at some point.
My mentality is either keept it simple and buy once with some slight upgrades that I'd want in a pistol anyway, or buy low-end first to see if I grow to like the 1911 as a whole more, and buy a 2nd, more specialized/customized one down the road.
Buying two would obviously be more expensive than buying 1, and it would take up more space because the autist in me doesn't like selling guns.

It was 250 after the rebate last summer and there's literally nothing wrong with it. The trigger takes some getting used to, but it's not bad for its intended self-defense range.

I'd say grab $300 and go track down a RIA or ATI GI then.
