Surplus furniture USGI is inferior from a structural and mechanical standpoint. If you want a rifle that's 100% accurate, just go out and buy a Colt SP1.
i want the stock to have the storage area. brownells dont
Then buy anything other than an A1?
I built one with the Brownells upper and lower before they were selling complete rifles. USGI furniture, weirdo semi-pencil barrel with a modern twist rate.
The upper and lower are literally contracted from Nodak Spud with a brownells stamp on the lower. It's a great rifle.
sorry forgot pic
Stop being fucking retarded.
Brownells furniture is airsoft-tier.
Worse, it feels like you're holding saran wrap.
i like that a lot actually
Not OP, but gonna do this. Thanks famalamborghini
You haven't touched Brownells' sorry excuse for furniture
That's disappointing to hear. Is it just lightweight, or what?
Thinner than a tupperware container.
The Brownells furniture is made of Zytel. I guarantee you that it would exhibit better performance in impact testing, high/low temperature testing, and long-term endurance than the original USGI fiberglass handguards/buttstocks.
>USGI furniture is shit
>buy an SP1
found the retard
Well, shit.
Their receivers are okay, aren't they...?
They contract them from NDS but they somehow managed to make a batch with a carry handle narrower than USGI specs. I'd rather just send the money straight to NDS desu. Brownells has always had the reputation of bad to moderate quality.
The narrow handguard groove was a batch of uppers from last year, before Brownells ever introduced their prebuilt retros. They've fixed it since.
>The Brownells furniture is made of Zytel.
No it's not.

For fuck's sake dude, it's kitschy bullshit that feels cheaper than a surplus set in every way, and it's especially apparent in the buttstock. Furthermore, I have no idea how they managed to make the handguards feel more fragile than the USGI ones, but lo, they did. The looks is off too, the ribbing on the handguards is much more prominent than it should me, the pinned swivel on the stock is only appropriate for pre-A1 rifles, and there is just something so very off about their pistol grip.
With that said, I'm genuinely impressed with their XM16E1 and 601 rifles.
yea me too. thats why i want to buy one and just swap the shitty furniture out and call it good
SP1s are not M16A1 clones.
