Where to find a WWII 1911?

Where to find a WWII 1911?

I want to buy a new production 1911 that is as close as possible to what Marines were issued in WWII. What are my options? I know Colt is garbage.

Most "USGI" models by whatever manufacturer will mimic what you want.

The Internet.

Colt Series 70

Uncle pawned grandfather's issued 1911 after he got it, still pissed about it.

Hopefully CMP 1911s won't all be shit.

That's the thing, I know everybody makes a USGI 1911, I want to get one that isn't garbage.

My gramps gave his back. It saved his life in the war and I feel like I owe the 1911 tribute which is why I want to get one.

Would you actually want to own one though?

RIA GI model

Rock Island Armory, especially if you just want a toy and not to carry it.

The Springfield GI model was pretty close. Don't think they make it anymore though.

If you think the Colt USGI is garbage you probably need to define garbage for us.

Get a Remington 1911, I own a Remington r1 1911 and love it. Got it for that Classic GI feel. Fun fact Remington made more 1911s for the US military and government than colt ever did. So if you want authentic then more than likely Remington is the go to.

keep in mind the WW2 ones were not as durable as the ones made post 1950. Slides were not heat treated in the same manner. Just get a new one and enjoy it.

Didn't the US gov just release a bunch of surplus 1911's from the cold war? you might want to see what you need to do to pick one of those up

just wait a few months for the CMP to start selling them, then hope you get in on the first batch.

Yeah I am not going to wade through the hoards of boomers to try and get one of these.

Also you guys recommending remmington and colt, come the fuck on. We all know both companies are completely in the shitter when it comes to making quality products.

what are some guns most like the original 1911 specs that wont rape my wallet? First 1911 purchase here, I just want a basic one, Ill get one with better features later

CMP will have them soon for an outrageous price no one should pay but will

Civilian marksmanship program

They do.

Not an a1

Colt makes good 1911s. If you don't want advice, decide for yourself.

The 1911s issued in the world wars were garbage senpai. They’re ok and they function but a 350$ Rock Island 1911 is about what was on a Marine’s hands at Guadalcanal

considering the CMP has garands for under market value, I'm not sure why you think the 1911s are going to be outrageous.

I hope the 1911s the CMP is selling are going to be cheap as they should be. I would love to get my hands on a $300 60 year old gun that's killed communists.

I'm expecting them to be about double that, but I'd love for them to be that cheap. I'd even be fine with a beat to shit lowest grade one as long as it goes bang.

for fucks sake user. You got your advice. Go with it. RIA, or springfield. You really want something that works and is cheap? Llama. Just buy a fucking Llama 1911 clone.

Want something expensive and fancy?

Now git.

If you can find a Norinco 1911 they are an almost exact copy of the original GI ones.

>this outstanding level of retardation

They might have rack grades for less than $1000.

Maybe.

This. An RIA 1911 is about as good as WWII 1911, which is to say, perfectly servicable, but by no means a gem.

I highly doubt they'd be that expensive.
Again, the cmp is under market value on garands. Why do you think they'd rape you on 1911s?
