It’s nothing compared to some of America’s past wars in terms of American lives
I wished they went salted earth route.
Because the funny man on the television told them to. Even critics of the war from the right have really just internalized a media narrative derived from emotions and knee-jerks rather than reason and facts.
John Oliver told them to hate it. Life’s much easier if you let the popular celebrities think for you.
The objective has already been completed and now it is just a huge waste of time and resources to fight for an unpopular national government.
Because it's a waste of money and lives and has not measurably stymied the flow of Islamic terrorism, perhaps even exacerbating it
Fatalities are irrelevant. People dont like it because it was a worthless war that achieved nothing. You could at least say of Iraq that we rolled against a conventional force and steamed them good, which was ultimately capped off with the death of Hussein. With Afghanistan it was always lawless hillbilly country with no objective or visible distinct opposition.
as someone who is all for effective us of our military, i'm tired of wasting resources on a failed state just so we can use it as live testing grounds and pour money into the hole that place is
we either step it up and finish the job or just call it quits. they're never working towards a clear objective and everyone understands it's a big joke at this point
>only sees war through KD count
Holy fuck actual underage. It's a shit war and some people don't want to waste anymore resources on it
The American public, and most westerners to be honest, don't really have a stomach for war. Don't like pictures of dead kids and bombed-out suburbs, as it turns out.
It's never ending and it's clearly going to go to shit the instant we pull out, making all the lives lost a complete waste.
America is homo
15 years of mission creep.
>Why do modern Americans complain about the war in Afghanistan?
Because they're told to hate it. It's also justified why the US invaded Afghanistan.
Pacific theatre PTSD vs afghan PTSD
Isn't it already a wasteland? You can't really fuck up what equates to hell on earth that much more, can you?
He’s retarded and thinks that bombing people back to the stone age when they’ve lived in the stone age for hundreds of years is a viable solution.
Because of its length. Same as vietnam. Politicians promising we're going to win any second now, ten years later it's still on.
Because its gone on for far too long and trillions of taxpayer's money has been wasted. Any gains we have made in the years that we've been there were almost immediately lost when we tried to hand things over to the Afghan government.
And after more than a decade, things actually look worse than they have and the Taliban are stronger than ever
Because it literally has no purpose?
Because some of the american public always complained about wars, in the past they were kept quiet either by the government or just by everyone else telling them to stfu, now though every asshole with an opinion has the ability to have it amplified by all the other assholes with an opinion, the majority of people don't really give a fuck it's just an amplified minority, just like gun control, transgenderism, and all the other bad shit that makes for a handy sound bite or trendy pound sign.
Waste of time, money and lives.
Because we should either kill them all or leave.
I vote for both.
Because the US wars in the middle east have been hilariously mismanaged and transparently corrupt on so many levels that the average American doesn't have any idea what we're actually doing in the sandbox besides 'killing terrorists', and killing terrorists doesn't seem to be working too well.
Even people who have followed the wars pretty closely and understand the stated intention of regime change feel like it's either completely ineffective or just an excuse to chase geopolitical or economic interests, and they're largely right.
>Afghanistan
>middle east
What?
Because we're not making any visible progress.
As bloody as WWII was, at least we knew with every battle, no matter how costly, we were getting closer to victory. One step closer to Berlin and Tokyo. We knew that if we kept it up long enough, we would triumph. With Afghanistan and Iraq, there's no hope for that. It's just us shooting it out with the same assholes in the same desert. It's worse than decisively losing if you ask me, because there's no closure.
And frankly, I think it's perverting American society beyond repair and setting this country up to become like Afghanistan. An embittered and fractured society, ready to tear itself apart in a bloody civil war.
Also this
why the hell are we in afghanistan in the first place
9/11 was a thing sure, but holy shit what's the goal here, just to sit around and shoot stuff and have them shoot us or what
$$$ for politicians.
That's pretty much the only logical reason I can think of.
Close buddy of mine did Kunar and a little bit of Nangarhar around 2010-2011, pretty much told me it made any of what we had either seen in Iraq look like a rock in the boot. I trust what he said.
In those provinces, there is little to no infrastructure that would support a presently mechanized US armed forces. The rest of Afghanistan is little better. Many have this idea that we have a eye in the sky across the world, and the immediate means to strike as we please at a moments notice. We really don't.
Afghanistan is a shitshow with no sense of nationalistic identity and distrust of any wide net of discerned outsiders.
How has it been completed?
>With Afghanistan it was always lawless hillbilly country with no objective or visible distinct opposition
Think you might be vastly understating the intelligence apparatus that continuously targets senior Taliban, Haqqani, Daesh, and remaining AQ leadership.
We have a decent idea of who we are fighting, even if they don't wear a uniforms and personal identification.
because dying for Israel is getting really old by now
What stake does Israel really have in Afghanistan?
Or are you just spouting the same shit over and over without reason?
Dey wanna steal all dey oil
FFS, please learn about the geography/natural resources of Afghanistan before spouting off any more stupid generic shit.
Oh that's a good idea man create an entire nation of future terrorists. That way we can drag this war out even more and longer maybe another generation or 2 or 3.
>modern Americans
As opposed to what other type of American?
lithium
centralized banking
pipelines
>What stake does Israel really have in Afghanistan?
>What stake does Israel really have in Iraq?
umm both sides of Iran to establish military bases on?
fucking lying jews cant even be real with people even when its anonymous
Because it has been nearly seventeen years and it's still going? Biggest conflict of the century was done and over with in under ten
they have really accelerated the (((plan)))
now they dont even have to use congress to declare war
just send the goyim to the sandbox for another few decades
Eh, the Mesoamericans in South America had a similar thing where they'd agree to going to "fake" wars for the sake of keeping their troops prepared and experienced
20 years of fuck all is pretty goddamn tiring
what a coincidence!!
really stretching there arent ya schlomo?
