Concealed Pistol License

Just got mine today in the mail and it took 10 days since I had applied at the sheriff's office, for it to be sent out to my house. At the sheriff's office:
>me, freshly 21 years old
>walk in where two women (officers?) are sitting behind a desk with a glass panel
>both say good morning to me and i say morning back
>tell them i would like to apply for a CPL
>the closest one to me hands me an application from a ready-to-go stack and i grab a clipboard
>fill out some basic information; the same info that's on a driver's license
>several yes/no questions about any past criminal convictions/activity
>sign it and give it back to her
>she takes my driver's license and scans it
>she then takes me back through a door and scans all of my fingers' fingerprints
>tell me they have 30 days to send it out while i'm paying the 50 dollar fee
>leave
>10 days later i now can walk around with a handgun legally
>sick.jpg

What was the process like for you and how long did it take to receive? Also, how many of you carry without a license? If you do carry a pistol without a license, please leave your full name and zip code (making a poll only for a college project of course).

In the great state of Jow Forumsansas I don’t need one to carry but plan one it one day. (Maybe)

Do I have one? Yes
Do I need one to carry? No
WV.

>Wisconsin
>take 8 hour class at local pd
>$40 with lunch provided
>demonstrate loading and unloading of revolvers and pistols for officers to pass
>receive certificate of class completion
>take picture of certificate
>send into WI DOJ to run background check
>another $40
>less than 2 weeks license arrives and is good for 5 years before another background check is needed and issuance fee of $40 is paid again

Same timeframe for me in washington. But for me I had a dorky mustaches civil servant who said "that's a shame" when I asked for the application

so you can carry without a license but still choose to get one?

>putting yourself on a list
>putting yourself on a /government/ list

Paying for a un-a-lien-able right.

hey goy, there is literally nothing to be suspicious about after giving the (((police))) a complete profile of yourself.

please list your full name and zip code please

>colorado
>take 8 hour class(was more like 6), through local instructor, $100
>fill out app, take it and class certificate to sheriff dept
>they scan finger prints, $50
>they call back 2 days later
>go back to sheriff dept, take picture, pay $50
>get chp card

what? a cop or a civilian?

This.

Took the class for shits and giggles and had everything ready to go but opted not to because fuck getting fingerprinted.

>Wisconsin
>take hunters education when I was 11
>course was $20
>if you pass written and field test with 100% you get refund
>get 100%
>fast forward 10 years
>a couple questions, 4 signatures, a stamp and $40
>4 days (yes 4 days) card and letter from state attorney general in mailbox

The great state of PA.

>Download CCW application from county website.
>Print it out, fill in some basic information about myself.
>Mail it to the county sheriff with a $20 bill inside. Wait a couple days for them to call me.
>Get the call, come into the county courthouse. Get my picture taken for the card.
>They print out the card and I walk out with it.

My county is gay though because we have to wait a couple days for the lazy fucks to process our applications. Some of the more rural counties process your application right away, so you get to walk out of the courthouse with your card 20 minutes after applying.

Same but my turnaround was a week. Shame I’m out of state for the next 3 months - no opportunity to use. Thank god I don’t live in King County any more

>assuming you aren't already on a government list.

i genuinely feel sorry for the people who have to take a class, albeit probably a better/safer idea

>live in weld county
>have hunter education card
>it counts as a class

i thought it was worth the time, was mostly just general laws, guns/holsters/clothing options. No actual firearm handling/shooting required. used to be able to do it online but not anymore

As soon as it becomes a "moral obligation" to harass gun owners, these lists are going to get leaked. Leftists are fantastic at destroying peoples lives for their misguided sense of justice.

>also Wisconsin
>paid DNR a couple shekels
>downloaded old hunters education certificate
>used that to apply for CCL
>received in 6 days

I still took a free concealed carry course anyway... because knowing how to cross a fence safely with a 28" 12ga shotgun and field dress a whitetail deer wasn't gonna help me survive in Milwaukee.

Some states have public access to the list of ccw licensees

Sorry to hear you live in Milwaukee m8

Connecticut
about 500 dollars total for the class, city and state fees. Takes about 2-3 months processing time. Longest thing was waiting for the city to call me. Was a painless process otherwise but didn't enjoy getting fingerprinted.

>except for the entire process, the process was painless

Attached: 1476147952083.jpg (313x313, 30K)

Oppressing rich white people this much.

>take 8 hour class at local pd
>$40 with lunch provided
Honestly not a horrible idea.
>demonstrate loading and unloading of revolvers and pistols for officers to pass
>receive certificate of class completion
Nice.
>send into WI DOJ to run background check
>another $40
>less than 2 weeks license arrives and is good for 5 years before another background check is needed and issuance fee of $40 is paid again
This is where it becomes shit.

Why does Dixieland(Tennessee) suck so much? How does fucking Vermont have constitutional but not tn? Price is ridiculous as well as having to take a course.

>What's a 4473

Attached: 1514725974925.jpg (645x729, 135K)

Blame Nashville.

what state? sounds very similar to what I experienced in washington, except mine took the full 30ish days to come in the mail.

we must have a distinct process here

or that there's a lot of washingtonians on this board

like?

>ballotpedia.org/Public_access_to_concealed_carry_lists

>what is reciprocity

Cool. Idgaf

batfe's trace mechanism is a map of guns to their original purchasers, the 4473 is the final leg of that. it's slow and has a mediocre success rate because they aren't allowed to digitize or build it into a database.

you may be thinking of NFRTR for title 2 firearms, which is a congresionally sanctioned sqlite database that could do a lookup by any arbitrary key in milliseconds

I carry without a license, no name and zip code for you tho because it's legal and I open carry.

>NY
>go to county office
>tell them you want to apply for a pistol permit
>receive the War and Peace of information packets
>receive four other similar packets to give to four unrelated (not even to each other) references who also live in the county of 50,000 people, 45,000 of which are all in one city and the other 5,000 spread across five hundred square miles of trees and cows
>all four packets must be returned within two months along with your own packet and all must be fingerprinted and notarized
>oh btw all this is $150+ before you even get it to a judge and then it's still may-issue
>sudoku into gorge

Fellow Jow Forumsansan here. Took my CCHL class last Saturday. Brought my info to the sheriff's office on Monday and got fingerprinted there. Payed $65 for a two day class. First day was an afternoon long defensive pistol class with drills and such. Second day was the in class stuff for the license. Defense class was just a friend of mine and a random guy. In class time was just me and the instructor. This is because both were done through a local guy who runs a basement FFL that specializes in cerakote, transfers, stripped lowers, and hide-a-gun cabinets. Paid $13 to Walgreen's for my passport style photos. Paid $100 to the attorney general and $32.50 to the sheriff. Will have to pay $20 to the DMV to print the license. All in all, paid $230.50 and spent about 10 hours of my life so that I could shoot better and carry in other states. I've been carrying permit-less here for about a year, but I have family out of state and my local range doesn't allow drawing and movement exercises, so I think it was a good investment.

Hopefully I'll get my approval from the AG by the end of April and then I'll go to the DMV to pick up my license.

Kentucky has you complete an application and have a handgun training course for a concealed license, but I did all of my stuff online since I’m stationed in New England. Mine was approved within 24 hours, I just had to pick it up in person at my local sheriffs office. I think the fee was $30 or something.
Open carry is legal without a license, if you’re into that.

Oregon
>take boring 4 hour class that teaches nothing important
>Fill out app online, pay the 65 bucks, and made appointment for "interview" for next day
>Go in take prints, take photo, check two forms of ID (one of which has my name wrong)
>Card printed right away
>Sorry the person who runs BGC is on vacation we'll mail it to you
Could have have been a two day process. Took two weeks instead.

New Hampshire.

>Show up at local PD office with paperwork and 10 bucks.
>Drop off paperwork and ten bux.
>Come back two weeks later, chief hands me a slip of paper.

Massachussets (Non-res)

>Take a 150 dollar all-day class
>Lunch not provided
>The closest place to me is sig academy
>Fucking SiG shills
>Get a certificate
>Fill out paperwork
>Get a money order for 100 bucks
>A stamped envelope with my return address
>Send in certificate copy, paperwork, stamped envelope, and 100 bucks to the mass state police.
>Papework includes a detailed list of reasons why I want a license
>2 weeks later get a call scheduling my interview
>they are 'backlogged' so it's 6 months from now
>mfw
>6 months later drive down to the mass office
>get fingerprinted and picture taken
>dudes there are nice and sympathetic, apologizes for the entire process
>ok.jpg
>3 months later I get a card in the mail
>only good for a year
>need to re-send in packet three months before it expires again next year
>100 dollars renewal fee
>welp.jpg.

I think it's a pretty good idea on paper. Though I don't know how much you actually learn from these required classes. Most drivers and hunters in my state are barely functioning retards and you need to do classes for those.

New Jersey

>Go to local police station
>Ask for CCL paperwork
>Get arrested
>Get ass raped in prison

Unless of course you work in the justice system or have friends in the justice system then you can do what you want

Virginia
>better known as the funniest fucking CHL acquisition ever
all you gotta do is
>download Application for CHL in Virginia
>don't be a criminal that has committed the 4473 "crimes" like weed, domestic violence, get DUI, etc.
>take class online
>complete 5 question quiz, including "TrueFalse: a gun that shoots 9mm can shoot .45" and "which of the following is NOT safe gun practices?: putting loaded and unsafetied gun into waistband, holstered and safetied, magazine locked into gun, locked up in a locked safe
>wait a month sir
>get license in 8 days during Christmas
it's a fuckin joke and they issue to out of staters too.

someone explain me this logic

Franklin County, OH (Columbus)

>made appointment to drop off paperwork, do fingerprinting, background check week prior
>show up friday morning and give them my stuff
>meeting takes 15 minutes
>get text notification 5 hours later that my license is ready
>efficient

He doesn't feel the need to carry one.

PA
>go to sheriffs office
>ask for application
>fill it out
>picture taken of face
>BackgroundCheck.exe
>pass
>hand over $20
You’re all set, expect it in the mail with in the next week.
Good to go for 5 years

Never hurts to have it if you decide to carry.

Use your rights or lose 'em.

I learned a bit about legal stuff so it wasn’t a complete waste of time.
>mfw dogs are legally considered no different than inanimate property and if you shoot a man in retaliation for killing your dog it’s considered murder.

Battle buddies are too pure for this world.

Went to local PD, paid $40, fingerprints, got laminated card in mail 8 days later.

Washington might be going down the shitter but at least we're still Shall Issue.

Civilian.

WA LEAs are notorious for having mustached soyboys and grumpy hamplanets as front desk staff.

>Not becoming federal thug to get LEOSA

>NY
>Kikes want $140 fee+ $10 photo and fanger printing fee
>Fill out very invasive application
>Need four non family references known at least three years
>Get follow calls from cops
>Wait ~10 months
>Get call to pick it up

>Now can buy handguns
>Buy pistol, do background check, cant pick it up
>Have to take receipt to county clerk to get it added to licence, get pick up coupon
>Take pick-up coupon back to FFL
>Get gat, want to leave Jew York

It's fucking astounding shit like that hasn't gone to SCOTUS.

>Haha no we're not infringing in your rights I mean it's an insanely long and retarded process but that doesn't mean anything haha

We need to purge all leftists and their supporters.

Fellow Kansasfag here. It's nice. But I want reciprocity when I go hiking and camping in other states

In Iowa:
>Take online training class (like an hour of videos and multiple choice test" for like $30 since that counts
>Print out certificate they give me and go to sheriff's office with application filled out
>Give them $50 and papers, wait 20 minutes and they give me a third of a sheet of paper as my permit

In Arkansas:
>Sign up for in person class that cost $120
>Listen to 6 hours of fudd lore then go to a range and shoot 20 rounds so they can see you're not a retard
>Get form signed by instructor
>Apply online and pay $150
>Go to state police building and get fingerprinted
>Wait 2 and a half weeks and get a plastic card in the mail

Tbh other than the cost, I like Arkansas process better, it feels more official and harder to fake

in utah we have to do a retarded 8 hour ccw class, from a retard who flunked out of police academy. but the good thing is that they take care of the paperwork for you and order pizza for the class.

Then all of a sudden, BAM! DENIED

Attached: 1518490753721.jpg (460x463, 65K)

what in the flying fuck? even if it's for a non-resident, that's pretty fucking retarded

>South Dakota
>18
>buy handgun face to face
>walk into sheriff office
>fill out paper work
>give lady $5
>get card in mail two weeks later
Only bullshit part is that is for a standard permit which lets you carry most places. If you want to CC in MN or NE you need to take a $100 class though both of those states have OC so it isn't too much of a problem when I travel. I have been meaning to get my enhanced for a few months recently but I keep holding out for national carry like a moron.

Attached: NewPermit-Map.png (592x496, 202K)

I got mine a little while ago, but;

>Michigan (greatest state in the Union)
>Turn 21, go to a mandatory CPL class
>Take a written test and shoot a target from 5 yds
>Take the class cert to county clerk, get photo taken, fill out application
>Go to state police for finger prints

Then you just wait, but you can still Carry without the License if they don't ship it in time. My main gripe is the quality of the actually license, it fades easily and is very cheap. I'm afraid I'll have to replace it before it's expiration.

I'm not a nigger or a bootlicker so i don't have a CCW permit because:
A I'm not committing a crime
B I don't think the government has the right to tell me what I can or can't do.

You bootlickers make sick.

Ohio here
>took my class 8hr I think
>2hr range time with NRA instructor
>Paid $50 to sheriff
>took fingerprints
>10min later walked out with my CHL
Ohio is the best state.

Attached: 1505514970319.gif (246x238, 143K)

Anyone get one in MO?

if i ever end up shooting and killing someone, at least the law enforcement will be leaning towards my side as they see me as a law abiding citizen vs someone who doesn't have a license or is carrying illegally

>live in NH
>as of last year, no CCW permit needed to carry

Fucking based NH.

>ever being in a situation where you shoot someone in self defense where you can't just leave the body and not report it

lmao

No nigger, your gun will be confiscated and you'll be tried in the court of public opinion. Even if you win the criminal case, the niggers will sue in civil court and have your balls for a necklace. A CCW will not make it any less fun.

Sorry you are so stupid. Every justified CHL holder shooting I have saw the guy walks without charges. I bet your stupid ass would pose with the body and text pics to all your range buddies. Just so you know that is why you would go to prison not the self defense.

Attached: Dan .png (1000x1000, 1.13M)

what if i record the situation leading up to the shooting showing that i had the (obvious) right to defend myself against the violent offender? wouldn't that help me?

Better hope you have nothing else on the PC that they can go back and look through as our no-longer-resident tripfags from MN can tell you.
>have actual video proof of attack
>happened outside of police station with lots of law enforcement present
>nongov witnesses side with shooters
>still get prison

>>
Congrats you won the criminal case, now get ready for the civil case! I hope you didn't have any mods on your carry gun. Lightened trigger? Changed grips? Hollow points? +P ammo? Get ready for the family's lawyer to label you as a vigilante looking to kill someone.

We literally saw this happen to a guy. He won the criminal case, but the family won civil because he used hollow points

source

Permitless open carry is legal in a ton if states

In my state if you are found to be justified in your use of force, you cannot be found liable in civil court either. It's a surprisingly good law given I'm in Illinois.

Yeah I'm gonna need a source on that one, friend. I can't see any reason defensive rounds most ccw holders use would be a problem.

what if i was this guy, except i had my CPL and a handgun, defended myself and killed the offender. all on video from the atm. would i still get screwed?

Attached: 1522384056618.webm (640x360, 2.19M)

>all four packets must be returned within two months along with your own packet and all must be fingerprinted and notarized
Me have-em big think on treachery of the Large Nose Tribe

In what state do you have to fill out an application to get a CFP but there's no training requirement? What's the point of the license?

>not getting your LTCF then and there at the sheriff's office

how's it feel to be in one of the shit counties

In civil court? Literally maybe. No every state excludes civil damages in a legal self defense case

I cannot even fathom being this fucking stupid.

There's no class?

>I shot him after he was robbing me at gunpoint and after shooting me
>gets fucked in civil
It is time to stop posting.

It was a 2 hour class I took with a friend and his father. Pretty simple if you have common sense. Had to also shoot accurately with a little 22 pistol. Nailed 24/24 shots so pretty fucking happy with myself. Took about 40 days to get which is annoying but passed all the alphabet soup agency checks. Almost a year later concealed carry became a given right so the licence is basically worthless. Still like seeing this white card when people pull out their wallets. Let's me know they are carrying and ready.

Attached: 300confirmedkills.jpg (3264x2448, 1.69M)

so they can have a complete profile of you in (((their))) (((((system)))))

however they did not even take a photo for the license so maybe we're just good people here in washington who just wants everyone to be able to defend themselves

Oh so apparently legal interpretations mean nothing? What are you going to use if you get sued?

Why is everyone conflating "getting sued and having to appear in court" and "losing in civil court". You realize when you get sued you or your legal representation must make an appearance and file motions which costs: Time & Money. Both things that can be rapidly depleted in the court of law. Even if you do win civilly, you are out $50k just to clear your name.
