Hey Jow Forums, what are your thoughts on the Taurus Judge?
Yeah yeah I know Taurus is a joke of a gun manufacturer, but I was wanting a efficient, and more cheaper option for a revolver that can shoot shotgun shells for carrying (even if it's a little big). Do you guys ever own this firearm before, if so how was it? Is it good or bad overall? Are there simply better options out there.
Pic related is the Taurus Judge I'm thinking of buying.
Carry weapon of choice
Buy a ruger revolver chambered in .357mag
The Judge is alright. It isn't shit. It carries the Taurus stigma but it has always gone bang for me. If it's in your price range then go ahead and grab it. You might be able to find a used S&W.
gun is a meme.
regular handgun much better.
>not getting a Governor.
How so? Provide your proofs.
I fucking love the judge. Haven't yet had the chance to shoot to fire one but they are a beauty. If you intend to use it for simple personal defense, go for the Public Defender, short barrel compared to other models. But the Raging Judge is some nice shit. Sadly the 28 gauge model never went into production
>that can shoot shotgun shells
Why?
It's well documented, my dude, google around
"The Taurus Judge series of .410-firing pistols proves that aggressive marketing can sell ice to Eskimos. The self-defense pistols aren’t ideal for handgun buyers seeking stopping power or concealability. Why are so many otherwise intelligent people purchasing — and presumably carrying — these enormous hand cannons? Let’s go to the tape . . ."thetruthaboutguns.com
>>Why?
Because I want the best stopping power that can put down both beast and human. Also why not.
you are retarded
>Because I want the best stopping power that can put down both beast and human. Also why not.
see
>stoppin powah
which is absent in whatever puny .410 shell you are gonna feed it?
If you are looking for a gun to fill that purpose you are looking at the wrong gun. If you are looking for a purpose for that gun to fill then go for it I guess, a fool and his money.
Leave them be. They are tactitards who think that they will get into an epic gunfight with 6 people so they need 17 rounds+ 4 magazines
There are better options but this is good enough
Just got it for hiking a few days ago. Going to load it with hot +P rounds in case of bear or more likely, in case someone starts something. I drive a nice hatch back but like to hike harder trails, this means I either end up walking an extra 3 miles to the trail head from where I had to ditch my car, or I hitch hike with a strange hikers. usually no issue. every once in a while im sitting in the back seat of a strange car thinking, I shoot carry something with some more punch than a 380
I always thought about such revolvers as snake guns. So they do have a practical purpose
>five shot revolver but fucking huge
>long chamber but short barrel weird configuration for .45lc
>shoots shotshell but rifling makes the pattern retarded
the irony is that most of the people wanting a taurus judge ARE tacticards fantasizing about using their multi-role practical tactical hand cannon for self defense oper8tion, except they are less informed than regular tactitards or else they'd have moved on to something else more reasonable.
and people like op have something else entirely in mind
I bought my s&w specifically for the max payne meme.
What about the Raging bull? I've always wanted one cause of Green Room
Dude, man up and get a Magnum Research BFR in 30-30 Winchester, 410 is for pussies.
>judge
jamal's governor
this
gp100
>The Judge is alright. It isn't shit.
it has a shit trigger, shit cylinder release, shit cylinder lockup
taurus: forged from the turds in the fires of my post-apocalyptic ghost pepper suffering rectum
Taurus isn't bad, actually. Most who gripe about them have never owned one or done much to objectively review the firearm. In my experience, the biggest Taurus problem is that as entry-level guns, they are sometimes used and abused and the secondary purchaser gets a gun that is unsurprisingly in need of a bit of care.
ANY .357 snubnose is the real meme gun. Slower burning powder means a large percentage of the potential is wasted.
As for the Judge, no, it is definitely NOT an ideal choice and so could be considered a "meme" gun; marketing is directed to make people who don't know much about ballistics think they'll have a "shotgun in muh pocket" which they will associate with some advantage in terminal ballistics, and that isn't true. In .410 it's good for essentially overly powerful snakeshot or underpowered close range spread shot.
In short, I wouldn't pass one up for a great price, but it would be more like a rarely used tool in my box, not an EDC gun. If I'm carrying a revolver, I'd prefer a standard barrel length .357 for wallop or an airweight hammerless .38 for concealability and simplicity.
.410 shells aren't worth your time for CC, the high spread and low amount of projectiles make it shit.
Get a revolver in .38 Special or .357 Magnum, both will vastly outperform a .410 revolver
this is the first thing that comes to mind when i hear about the taurus judge.
my bad i forgot to post link wideopenspaces.com
Max Payne used Berettas and Deagles tho.
I meant the movie
You bought a gun to meme on a shitty movie based on a mediocre-to-decent game series?
>Short barrel in front of a cylinder that makes the gun nearly as large as my 4" GP100
This gun, the cc version at least, was made to appeal to people who don't into guns. The one practical use I've ever seen for such a thing was hunting birds that spend most of their time on the ground like pheasant.
>snake guns
>practical
Your goddamn right.
I also plan too cc birdshot In It,
just for the lulz.
Judge with LeHigh 220gr Maximum Expansion rounds will ruin anybody's day. There are crime scene photos knocking about of a dead nigger who tried robbing someone who got the drop on him with that combo, the wounds are immense.
Those actually do perform pretty well, but for the sheer size and weight of the Judge, I'd much rather carry a .44 Magnum
Do it bro.
There used to be a bunch of photos of a dude who killed a dindu Who was trying to carjack him with one. Guy smoked a blunt, called his momma and died on the sidewalk lol.
Can't find it now.
this.
if you want a hand cannon get one.
not some pussy .410 bullshit.
you can even get rat shot for the 44 and use it for snakes n shit.
I bought and carry a Governor when I'm out doing LR shit with my friends in the grass lands. Snakes be creepin out there.
It can also use 45 ACP on moon clips and comes from a company that has a slightly better reputation.
Plus one more shot.
Brainlet has spoken.
enjoy your shit taurus
>carrying this garbage
Is there a bigger meme? Carry a 38 snub like a reasonable person.
Enjoy living in your faggot-filled echo chamber.
s&w governor is better
This is a gun board.
People have different tastes.
Buy all the guns. If they turn out to be shit, sell them, buy different guns.
If you want a gun, get the gun. Opinions are neat and everything but the only thing that matters is having fun.
Stop linebreaking every goddamn sentence.
410 is pretty much birdshot. You're better off using 45 colt in it
The Judge is not a serious self defense weapon. It's a range toy.
So not anything in 410 gauge
45-70 revolver instead.
You can put buck and even slugs in .410 shells, it just won't be very hefty.
.410 makes sense as a real light small game gun (bird, rabbit, etc), it makes atrocious sense as a handgun.
I mean maybe it's fun to fuck around with, plinking at cans and stuff, but I would never be able to take a Taurus Judge seriously.
I have a Governor and bought some Hornady Triple Defense .410 rounds. I got them just to see what they would do and it's pretty funny. 3 things fly out of these and fucks shit up.
Only problem I have with the design is how goddamned impossible .410 is to find.
