Looking to pick up my first hand gun. Help

Hey guys, so I'm looking to purchase my first hand gun this week. Its not the first hand gun I've ever shot, I've got some experience with a 9mm, but I'm looking to pick up something in .45 acp. Currently I'm looking to spend no more than about 1000 on one. I'm in between a USP .45 and a Colt 1911. If anyone has any tips/suggestions I'd be happy to hear them.

USP with an LEM trigger.

They nice.

1911 is a dead meme.

Yeah that's the thing that's really drawing me to get one, most of the reviews online say that the people who have them love them. The only major complaint I see is the heavy trigger and a large grip. But I dont have manlet hands so it won't be a problem.

LEM trigger isn’t heavy at all.

Lem is a fucking meme

I'm picking up a second handgun soon, are there common alternatives to the Shield? I go do about 200 rounds every 2 months with a P07 but I've never been completely comfortable holding it. Unlike OP I have little bitch hands that don't comfortably sit plush on the trigger when I draw, plus I'm left-handed.
Performance Center has been recommended, and even though my first reaction was "wow things I don't commonly see on a handgun," I really started to consider if a 9 really needed to be ported or if the flash would be distracting. I'm left-handed and looking for a daily carry. Still seems like a nice gun just thought I ought to pick up more than one before I drop 500 bucks.

No self loading firearm, which works reliably and has enough power to kill with a single shot is a meme.

Are there better firearms? Sure. Does 1911 leave you severely undergunned compared to other options? No. While 7 shot capacity leaves a lot to be desired there are very few cases where 10+ shots are used in civilian defense

Handgun general has a pastebin on this

Seconding the USP. Get it.

Get it in .40 though.

Everything is a meme on the internet. The LEM mod is useful for someone who doesn't want that first pull to be DA, and it's worth the $150 to not have to decock.

If you've got the money to burn it's a great convenience factor, if not it's not a big deal

HK's have shit triggers and ergos. If you're going to be shooting an outdated cartridge, you might as well shoot it out of an outdated 1911 to match.

>Most thoroughly tested handgun in existence is shit.

Where are you located?

>HKs have shit triggers
tru
>and ergos
niqqa what? The USP has phenomenal ergos for anyone without manlet hands, and every one of their handguns since that has a solution for even the soyest of boys.

>Most thoroughly tested handgun in existence is shit.

You're thinking of the mk 23, which was mechanically and dimensionally different, and had a different finish. Also the mk 23 was hardly the most tested handgun since nobody ever actually used it.

There are light LEM triggers, and htere are heavy LEM triggers.

Don't buy HK shit new, buy a used one, there was a batch for like 350 for .45s with LEM heavy triggers the other week at some online gunstore.

>The USP has phenomenal ergos for anyone without manlet hands

The lever mag release is a manlet invention. Their trigger fingers barely reach the trigger so it's faster for them to just push down. Anyone with normal or chad sized hands has to pull their index finger further out of the guard. It's easier to just use your thumb, and a button makes a better thumb mag release.

Those were not LEM heavies, those were straight-up DAO. They were date coded AC, which was before HK introduced LEM.

I ordered one of the Compacts, then canceled it because I found a HK45C new with night sights for $200 more. Will pick it up today, very excite.

Lever mag release is superior to thumb release. Accidental releases with lever are nearly impossible, and shooters of most hand sizes don't need to adjust their grip to drop a mag, leading to faster & more consistent mag changes.

The USP one is a little small, would recommend the extended lever for that. The VP9 one is premium.

You mean glock?

Accidental releases never happen with buttons anyway.

>shooters of most hand sizes don't need to adjust their grip to drop a mag

You do if you use your index finger. A button release keeps the heel of the grip in the same spot in your palm, but with a lever release, you need to shift the grip up and to the right to get the leverage to push the lever down.

Maybe for your weak little bitch hands. I never have to adjust my grip on my VP9. Can release it with trigger finger or hit it with middle.

Probably because you have stubby baby fingers.

He's right though.

>shit trigger
You get used to it
>shit ergos
How? Because it doesn't have the modern molded rubber grips? It's not the most comfy handgun ever, but the ergos are fine. And Fudd love aside, I immediately disregard anyone on the opposite spectrum who says .45acp is outdated

Buy a Canik. That's what I got as my first handgun.

New HKs do have the molded interchangable grips tho, the P30 is the comfiest handgun I've ever picked up.

>only .45acp can 1s1k

lel

Indeed. OP was talking about the USP, I just zeroed in the USP.

glock 19 or glock 20
don't get a fucking .45 and I say that as owner of pic related
