Try it on a Baer. You have to remove the barrel and slide together, push the barrel forward out of battery, and still use the bushing wrench.
Old school hard fit guns require it.

How else would you disassemble a 1911?

I meant remove the barrel and slide without removing the bushing and plug.
You hold it back to remove the slide stop under tension, then when it’s off the slide is machines so that the plug will drop out backwards. Then you can push the barrel forward and turn the bushing.
