Reloads

>Going to the gun range tomorrow with a friend. I'm bringing the 9mm ammo he's bringing the .308 ammo
>Just found out that the .308 ammo he's bringing are reloads

S-should I be worried? Has Jow Forums shot reloads before? I don't want my gun to blow up

Modern guns are rated to handle like 3x SAMMI specs.

Is your friend stupid?

Is your friend a retard?

If so, do not proceed to go.

Otherwise should be fine. I ask my buddy to reload for my shit all the time. But my buddy is also an autistic turbonerd when it comes to reloading spces.

unless he fucking double charged it you're fine. If the primers are popping out then its too hot don't keep shooting them.

Are they his reloads or some that he bought? If theyre his then it depends on how competent you think he is.
If theyre someone elses then it depends on how much you trust them.
Either way, id pass shooting someone elses reloads through my gun. the risk ismuch higher than the reward.

I got a double charge in a tula box of 308 once.

It tried to blow up my ruger nice. But thank you ghost of bill ruger for overbuilding your shit to hell and back.

Just to clarify, he didn't reload them himself. He bought them at a gun show and said they didn't come in one of those ziplock bags. Is there a way to visually inspect a reload to see if it's safe to shoot?

I'm sure it will be fine.

Youll PROBABLY be fine, but I never buy reloads unless they are from a company. No gun show drunken bubba reloads.

no way that I know.

I wouldn't buy somebody else's reloads. And I'd only use someone else's reloads that I know is legitimately leaning autistic.

Seriously, some of the reloading practices that are on youtube scare me.

Yes, all reloads are corrosive, don't do it

>He bought them at a gun show

oh hell no. let him shoot every one by himself away from you

friends don’t let friends buy reloads.

I wouldn't.

Only if I knew the reloader personally and trusted him not to slack off or dick around -
Gun show reloads from a stranger sound like a great way to lose a gun and/or an eye.

OP are you crazy? Why would you risk having your precious and expensive rifle blow up? To me this is a no brainer, especially since you said they were bought from a gun show. Who the fuck even does that?

Are reloads that bad if they're from some bigger factory like freedom or fedarm?

OP here, Sorry for the very late reply, I just got off work. I spoke to my friend and he said that he bought the reloads from a company called North Georgia Reloading.

I just checked their website and they seem to have pretty good reviews (4.5/5 from 36 reviewers). If reloads are THAT bad what is my friend supposed to do with them? He has about 250 rounds of .308

how does shit like this happen? I'm not too familiar with reloaded ammo but I thought the worst that can happen is a squip round. how often does exploding round happen?

that's way better than buying from a hillybilly behind a folding table.

grab a box of your own 308 from the store "for comparison purposes" if his ammo doesn't blowed up real good by the time your through a box, then, you can try his, it's probably pretty safe

Holy shit nibba you fill those rounds with fucking dynamite?

lotsa ways. You can even blow up a barrel with a light load. Google Secondary Explosive Event.

Thanks to cautious publications and gun manufacturers many mistakes aren't deadly. Some are. Reloading isn't a good idea for some people.

That looks like a legit operation. They might even be jumping through the legal hurdles. I'd be fine with that in my gun.

The only way I'd use gunshow reloads is to pull the bullets, dump the powder, and re-reload them. That way, if any of them kbooms it's me, not some other halfwit.
