Getting a maverick 88 soon

Getting a maverick 88 soon.

What kind of wear can I expect, and how many rounds will it take to start showing wear?

I'm in college bruh.

I was gonna get a benelli m4 but got an a2 clone and a WASR instead. Now all I got is chump change but I still want a shotgun

Your question is fairly vague.

I mean for example, if I shoot 100 rounds a week, how soon will parts like the action bars start to wear?

Wear starts at the first round. If you clean after every use it will last for at least 100,000 rounds. If you leave it dirty it will ruin in a few months.

Never. Just clean it every month or so and it'll be fine. I've had one for a very long time and I never clean it. It's indestructible.

Something like an M4 typically costs over seven times what a Maverick 88 does, and your average person is never going to fire either gun enough to wear one of them out. The M4 is also a lot heavier. Why spend more money than is required for your purposes?

Get a 500 series you nigger. Maverick suck dick

Well they don’t really suck dick but they do compared to the 500 series. No thumb safety, cheaper feel, it’s worth the extra penny

As in like a deep clean where I disassemble the whole action?

I actually prefer thumb safeties

If you're really fucking worried about it, then yes. Like I said, I've never cleaned mine. Probably 10,000 rounds through it, mostly birdshot target loads. But it functions fine and was well worth the money.

You dumb faggot, just because youre not poor and don't buy the cheapest shotguns on the market doesn't mean you buy the most expensive ones. An m4 is like the fucking epitome of combat shotguns, not the only other option.

Let me ask, is this your first gun? I suspect that it is, because you're putting way too much emphasis on wearable components. The average person doesn't shoot nearly enough for wear and tear from actual use to be even remotely a legitimate concern.

You will be far better served by paying attention to where you're storing it and not allowing rust to build up on it during storage.

But to answer your question, the gun will hold up quite well. My brother has a Maverick 88 that we have shot a fair bit and it still cycles and shoots without a hiccup. Just make sure you clean and lube it after any shooting session that will be followed by going into storage. The build up from shooting is pretty hard on metal if you just let it sit, especially in a humid environment.

I have a glock 17 and marlin x7 right now, both of which are kept in gun socks in a gun cabinet with a dehumidifier

What would be a decent wood furniture shotgun in the $750 range? I'd be fine with either pump or semi

go for 500 series. the difference is only a bout a hundred dollars. if you are broke as a joke, by a used mossman 500 for the same price as a new maverick 88. you wont regret that little extra up front.

if you are poor as dirt and just have to deal with the maverick, you wont regret it. its still a good option. but its a C grade when the mossberg 50 is an B+. and the difference shows.

as far as how many shells? That depends on what you shoot, duh. get the 500 and rest easy knowing you can literally fill the barrel with skittles or shoot spark plugs and it will still last you 60 years. and if you DO need to replace a barrel, its a no tools job. just buy a new barrel for $45 (nice one).

No difference in wear over a regular mossberg besides the bluing on the barrel and mag tube being cheaper and more rust prone. Either go for the 88 (especially if you're planning on using a pistol grip stock of any kind due to the safety position) and oil it every once in a while OR save another $100 and get a police trade-in 590a1

Barrels are $80+ for minimum legal length, more expensive for longer ones.

A maverick88 will last longer than you. It would take multiple thousands of dollars to buy enough ammo to wear it out. Shotgun barrels don't experience wear the same as rifle barrels. If I had to guess, I would say that the actions bars would break at the pins where they attach to the forend. If anything your gun will work better the more you use it.

870 wingmaster or an Ithaca for pump. I don't know much about semi-autos but ~700ish is about entry level, so you'd just get an OK semi-auto VS a great pump action.

The finish and the stock are the cheapest things on it, expect scratches with harsh treatment and rust if you neglect cleaning. Otherwise just keep an eye on the extractor if it stops ejecting shells correctly. The 88 is a budget 500 but it's still a 500 so it's probably not going to shit the bed like an import.
