Finally decided to buy a glock 19

Finally decided to buy a glock 19.
Which gen should I get and what do I need to change on it?

3rd. Unless you have abnormally large or small hands, then get 4th. Unless you dont want finger groves, then get 5th. And sights, if anything

You don't really need to do much to a Glock. Replace the sights with Trijicon HD Night Sights, and get a Minus Connector for a lighter trigger pull (I have mine at 3 lbs). Get a Glock magazine well plug (also known as a back strap plug), so you don't get crap in there.

That's it, really. Spend the rest of your money on ammunition and magazines and get some training.

As for what generation, that all comes down to preference. Some people like the finger grooves of the Gen 4 (like myself), others don't. Just try several and see which ones fit your hand the best.

Speaking of fitting your hand properly, you might want to consider filing down the underside of the trigger guard where your middle finger is. This allows for a higher grip on the gun, which again gives you better recoil control.

You can also add palm swell to the pistol, but that is included with your purchase. Make sure it FITS YOUR HAND.

Did I mention it should fit your hand?

Best of luck.

Gen 5
New sights of your choice
Grip plug
+/- extended mag release
Maybe maritine spring cups but they probably won't matter

Negative on the grip plug. Dont be a fag. Negative on connector. Trigger is fine.

Buy a gen 3, 4, or 5 and just put night sights on it, thats it.

Also, stop being a fag, OP.

Gen 2

Gen 4. Trijicon ns. Lots of ammo and mags.

That's it.

Gen 4

More aggressive texturing, bigger mag release, 3 magazines all objective improvements over the Gen 3

Gen 5 19 is awful to hold because of the stupid flared magwell, get a 17 or 34 if you want no finger grooves

Ammo mags and a holster

Is the magwell cut only on the 19? I thought glocks kept features like that across the whole gen.

The grip plug is functional and you would know that if you weren't such a fucking noguns

It's on all the gen 5's minus subcompacts and the 19x

Gen 5 or a different brand of Glock 19 like the CZ P-10 C so you don't have to replace gun parts on a new purchase like all the tards are telling you. Any real Jow Forums enthusiast will like holding a thick, long flared shaft filled with a lot of loads and dig the Gen 5.

No its on the 17 as well but with the longer grip it doesn't dig into your palm like the shorter 19 does

Real operators use gen 3. Get steel sights of your choosing. Lower profile is better. The Trijicon HDs are skyscrapers. Don't mess with the trigger if it's a defense gun. It will smooth out after shooting.

Don't get a gen 3, despite what these faggot autists say, you're not going to be firing hundreds of thousands of rounds out of your gun, so gen 3 is unnecessary, and the grip and magazine release suck. only good thing about gen 3 for an average shooter is the finish.

Thanks Jow Forums, now I'm even more confused.

Be a rebel, get a gen 2.

Lighten the trigger as much as possible. Make sure to always keep it loaded and practice high speed holster drills.

3, 4, or 5 id recommend 3 though as it is THE glock that all the reputation is built off of. Then get ameriglo NS (saves yourself some money over trijicon and they are nearly the same)

Very related :p

If you are kinda odd and shoot left handed get the gen 4.

Beware that the finish on Glocks made for the past 7 or so years have been complete shit. Literally like spray paint on the slide. Not uncommon to find scratched up slides right out of the box.

The good news is that the Gen 5s seem to be addressing this. Still not as good as the "frying pan" finish that was on the Gen 3 guns. That's the finish of the one on your picture, btw. You arnet going to find that finish on the new market.

Other than that, the Gen 4 guns feel better in my (admittedly small) hands than Gen 3.

If a double feed happens or something impedes the magazine, that negative space allows you to strip it much easier. That's why it's there; it doesn't allow debris to ingress.

I've heard the same thing, but I don't know about you, but I can get the magazine out even with the plug in - with gloves on! Glock 17 Gen 4.

>Finally decided to buy a glock 23

gen 3 is good

Gen 3s have the same finish as gen4s except for the very early ones.

Whatever is cheaper and well taken care of, they all work so fuck it.
I personally have always liked gen 3's, but I don't mind gen 4's.
The gen 2's are really damn nice but you won't find a good one, and the gen 5 is not worth the extra IMO (unless you're a lefty).

sorry Delta force disagrees with you

Are the XR’s better than the standard reiki on hd’s?

I have the regular Trijicon HD Night Sights and I honestly can't tell if there's a difference between those and the one in your picture.

Judge for yourself, see pic related (different camera focus on the front- and rear sights).

Dubs speak truth.

Explain

At what yard is your zero? Those sights are tall as fuck.

I wanted them tall to allow for use with a suppressor, in addition to having 1/3 co-witness once I get a red dot (if I find the money for getting the slide cut). They're about the same height as the original sights, and they're zeroed at 55 yards (50 meters), POA = POI.

What the fuck are you talking about? The mag well is beveled, not flared and is externally unnoticeable. Go to your LGS, compare a gen 4 alongside a gen 5 and actually handle one before you flap your cock pleaser.

Get a gen 5.

It has a nitride finish, beveled muzzle (helps for smooth holstering), better springs (including leaf springs where possible), better barrel, 3 dot night sights, ambi slide release (nifty if you shoot lefty or ambi), reversible magazine release (in case you are a lefty) beveled magazine well (Which has a noticeable effect on reloading), 5 different back straps, comes with three magazines, steeper angle on the rear sight (you'll probably never use it, but it allows you to rack the slide one handed with the help of a table edge or duty belt) and it helps that they polished the trigger.

Get a grip plug, holster, more magazines, punisher skull backplate, stippled threeper logo in the grips and a shield for all the pussy that's going to come flying your way. Maybe a cleaning kit too while you're at it.

get one of these but in a g19 variant

Gen 4 finger grooves fit me like a glove and 4 or 5 have lower muzzle flip than previous gens

Get a Gen 3 and your choice of aftermarket sights. A larger mag release is also useful.

>buys a gun planning to modify from the start
The absolute state of glockfags.

Did the bevel the frame yet? That really bothered me

Gen 1
