I didn't see one up so lets start a QTDDTOT thread.
Can someone explain the point/benefits of a three point sling? I'm considering my options for an FAL at the moment.

3 point slings were designed for bringing your rifle to ready position much faster than a 2 point. This rarely works in practice since having any kind of gear like a plate carrier with shit on it or a bandolier will cause the sling to get caught up.
Forgotten Weapons has a better explanation of this on Censortube.
Good for choking yourself out while baitin it.
Ive been wondering if mounting a side mounted m134 minigun to pic related would be a good idea for slotting floppies and hajies? Are there any downsides that I can't see? It would be really cheap to aquire and operate and seems really good for unarmored targets.
nevuh been dun before
but to answer your question, no. less firepower than an A-10 while being even more susceptible to basic AA systems
Pic related is where I got the idea.
An a10 is a little over kill for insurgents that have no anti air capabilities and fuel burn would pay for a 206 every 70 sorties.
overkill is the US military's middle name. we're replacing a perfectly fine sidearm with a new one that may or may not go off when dropped. I don't think cost is an issue.
Anybody ever try one of these Meprolight sights?
My LGS has some and I was wondering if I should try picking one up
longsight is long.
Should I drop $1800 for a Saiga AK or $1800 for an Aero precision AR? I like in cuckcountry.
I have one and it's ok. Not great though. It's harder to "find the dot" than a traditional micro red dot. Plus it's fiber so if you're in a dark area and the target is well lit, like an outdoor range with a shade, the dot isn't very bright.
If you're putting it on a handgun that "points" pretty good already, go for it. Otherwise, I'd recommend getting a set of taller irons and an RMR or similar.
I have not used those sights, however I can vouch for meprolight.
Are prices still inflated and stock low because of panic buying still?
Would it be an extraordinarily dumb idea to build a .308 AR as my first AR?
How the fuck does that even work
I really haven't noticed this. Where are you looking? On gunbroker prices still seem normal, and at a local FFL they have walls full of ARs and lower.
Fiber optic
Combination of fibre optics and tritium.
The dot actually moves like a red dot, so you line it up by just centring it in the ring like a bullseye.
Meant for
What do you guys think of my poorly designed 4 winds speed loader design
Should I buy an Aimpoint PRO or a cheaper red dot like a Primary Arms or Vortex? Is there really a big difference other than battery life?
Anyone remove a backsight from a jericho 941?
do you really have to remove the decocker or is it still possible but just a pain in the ass?
online companies who will provide a glock slide, mill it, cerakote it, maybe put sights on it, then send it to me? rockyourglock seems to be the only one ive found so far, not sure if i can find anything better while i wait for ryg to have another sale
Considering getting a Mini 14 over an AR15, is this a retarded decision?
Leaf, by the way.
What should I buy?
CMP Garand
SLR-107
92FS INOX
Colt AR9 Pistol (build)
Is that your M1? I kind of hate it.
What kinds of rifles do you already own? Between the four I would go for the colt 9 if you plan on making it retro, or maybe the M1 if you don't already have one.
Summer is coming up and I've been thinking about getting a gun smaller than my g19 for cc. Potentially i would like the ability to pocket carry it. What would Jow Forums recommend. Sry for being a huge faggot and not open carrying a s&w500
>smaller gun
Shield, p365, p938, lc9 if broke.
>pocket carry
Lcp, p238, j-frame
I don't know if this is different in leafland but for us in the states there's little financial reason to get a mini 14 over a cheap ar, particularly because mags are proprietary. I'd only do it if you really like the aesthetic.
"If my mother weren't my mother I would marry her"
Are thoughts like these abnormal? Am I not supposed to have them?
>CMP Garand
Not if you're going to fuck with it like that asshole did.
The only acceptable modification to a Garand is a ported gas plug which will allow the gun to properly cycle modern 30-06 and not just M1 Ball.
What is some good 9mm ammo brands for breaking in a new gun and practice shooting at the range? Does it depend on the gun or more universal about ammo brand?
yes
Not my garand. I'd only put the gas plug in. No bubba. I'll probably order a service grade here soon. If they sell out I'll get a SLR107.
just buy wolf or tula, if your pistol can't eat steel case then it's shit (milsurp get an exemption on this rule)
Why shouldn't I buy a Bushmaster ACR?
Did i do good?
Is beautiful. CMP rifles all the way - only think to consider would be getting a leather sling (atthefront makes great repros)
>rack numbers on stock
I would leave the OD sling, It had it for so long it's part of the rifle now and IMO gives it character. Only time I would use a repro sling is if it didn't have one originally
I could see that too but if its a WWII serial number I would put on leather (or even beyond then could be accurate) I dont shoot with/use original leather so I dont damage it - I also prefer the feel and utility of leather over the web/OD but it is personal preference you're right
significantly more expensive than an AR-15 while not being much better than one
lcp2 is god-tier pocket carry
Here there is a considerable benefit to getting a Mini-14 since our laws are retarded - you can own an AR15, but there are more rules for it and you can only shoot it at government approved ranges because “muh scurry salt weapons”. Can’t go hunt with it or take it to the informal gravel pit range.
Said rules don’t apply to the Mini-14
Regular polymer or overmolded rubber?
Regular grip angle or reduced grip angle?
Building my first AR and I don't really like the feel of the A2 grip it came with. Not sure what the benefits of the above are or what I should be looking for.
Whatever you get account for the 'gap' in the trigger guard either with an enhanced trigger guard to fill it (so it doesnt cut into your hands) or a handguard that will protect you from it - I have yet to find a handguard that does it well (even the magpul ones that have the insert to fill it) and always go with a trigger guard that does so
Those are my only two cents the rest (grip angle, aggressive texture etc.) are personal preference and depend what you are doing with it (pistol vs rifle, bench shooting vs runnin-n-larpin etc.)
Anyone have any good recommendations for night vision? I'm looking for a monocular but I don't want to spend more than 1k
First time I've had my recoil spring squeak like a mattress in a whore house. New gun, range day is monday, does this shit go away after a few hundred rounds?
Captured springs are great and all, but fuck do I wish I could remove the damn spring, polish whatever it is rubbing against, and be done with it
Should I be a bitch and get a stainless guide rod and wolff springs in the future?
Whatever is cheap and plentiful
The garand from earlier is a 1955 H&R arms
The one with the rack number
Lube that and the buffer tube. Also, polishing the buffer tube and the buffer spring is a legitimate option. You can buy pre polished springs like the JP one as well. Or you could shoot 1000 or so rounds through it.
Wait you're talking about a handgun. Nevermind. But yeah still lube and shoot it a bunch. Also not all "captured" springs are actually captured. If you own a common enough gun, chances are you can find a YouTube video on how to remove the captured spring. Then you can polish.
>Ive been wondering if mounting a side mounted m134 minigun
goodbye weight and balance, and hello fuel burn
as someone under 21 can I sell my mothers shitty sns pistol to a pawnshop towards a better gun with her permission?
im here in colorado if that matters.
mini 14 probably isn't a bad option then, if you can though try to find some other decent 5.56 gun that can use stanag mags.
European here
How is the national guard organised?
Are they what we call here reservists ?
Does it even matter what lower parts kit I use for my AR? I don't want to skip out on quality but I don't want to pay an extra $50 for a brand.
Anybody got the most recent Jow Forumslass photo?
National garuard are like the military but they train one weekend a mouth and are not call upon unless something happens
This. National Guard units can and do get sent overseas though, there's a bunch of them in Afghanistan right now (or maybe they left when they scaled down?), although the majority of troops overseas are Army.
Does anyone know what these two bullets can be? I got them mixed in a bag of 7,62x51 someone gave me. 7,62x51 case in the right for scale.
The one on the left has the marks that say: F M "S F" 7.62X62
The one in the middle has the marks: F M.M.A.P. "B" 1949
Sorry for my shitty english I'm from Argentina
Here are the photos of the markings. I couldn't find any info on google but I think the FM markings stand for "Fabricaciones Militares" an argentine state owned arms manufacturer
Weight, sure -- at least once you add enough ammo to make it worthwhile. But balance shouldn't be an issue -- you do realize he's talking about mounting it in the fuselage pointing out the side, not in some kind of external pod? The Cessna 206 has an interior cabin width of 43", and the M134 alone has an overall length of 31" -- by the time you include a mount and feed system, the weight will be pretty nearly centered.
Not sure what a 206 does when you shove it sideways with a 190-pound recoil load, though.
7.62x62 is .30-06; this cartridge clearly isn't .30-06 (it's a half-inch longer than 7.62x51), so it appears someone converted .30-06 brass to some other cartridge. It looks like 7.62x51 to me -- is the headstamp the only thing that caught your eye? Does it fit the chamber in a .308/7.62x51 rifle? If so, it's .30-06 brass shortened and reloaded as 7.62x51, and no safer or more dangerous than any other random reload.
The middle one looks 2-3mm longer, so the likeliest matches seem to be 7.5×54mm French or 7.65×53mm Mauser -- given you're in argentina, almost certainly the latter.
Guys, how do you find out if you got lead poisoning?
I cast some very specific bullets for my shooting club, about 5K a year. I made a new installation at home to do it, with a big enough ventilation unit and everything, I'm meticulous about washing my hands afterwards, etc. Last weekend I made about 3.5K, I need to make another 1.5K to have enough for the season. I was fuzzy all week, my neck was tense and ached, I was out of breath after running two sets of stairs, and my vision started getting terribly. Not black, not fuzzy, but somewhere in between. Have I gotten myself poisoned? I had this last year too, a bit, but not nearly as bad as I had it a week ago. Doctor doesn't have a clue what it could be.
Get your blood tested by a specialist
Trying to buy a scope for my Ruger Scout, can anyone recommend an IER or LER scope, around 4x magnification, in the range of $400 USD?
NY fag. Just bought a norinco hunter. Anybody know good vendors for 10 round ak mags? Any brands I should avoid? Also I was told I could get 30 round mags that are pinned at ten rounds but could easily be restored to 30. If a fella was looking to do something like that, where would he get his hands on one?
don't take serious medical advice from a forum that talks about dragon dildos, see a doctor.
Are polymer grips black all throughout the material or is it just the top?
If I were to sand or file off some of the grip texture, would it show up as some weird color or would the color stay the same?
should stay the same.
they usualy mix the die with the plastic before molding.
it should not be painted.
it might looked scuffed but should be the same colour.
i've shot both the mini-14 and the ruger 556, and I prefer the 556. the mini looks great in an all wood outfit, but i found the 556 to shoot more comfortably, for me at least - also the 556 (or any AR for that matter) is easier to disassemble and clean.. worst case scenario buy both? they're both pretty cheap and they will share ammo. the AR mags are a big plus.
LC9/LCP if you want a plastic gun. i'm about to pickup a bersa thunder because it's $300 and i dont think spending 2x as much for the ppk is worth it. modern 380 rounds will fuck anyone up in a self defense situation. besides even having a pew pew is likely to scare off anyone wanting to fuck you up. also dat sweet DA/SA trigger.
i think unconsciously we look for a woman like our mothers. i mean hopefully caring and shit.
just go shoot your gun. you will be spending way more money on ammo than any grip and you will probably change it out after a while anyway.
in the US, each state has its own National Guard units, some of which are full time and some are part time (Reserves). they're technically under the direction of the state Governor, but in reality they do whatever the department of defense tells them to (because funding).
make sure you're casting in a well ventilated area and you should be fine. if your kids end up retarded, it was probably lead poisoning.
pls respond
The trigger matters, lots of good drop in triggers better than factory stuff. And most people have a preference other than A2 for the grip. If I was you, maybe get a decent drop in trigger pack, a good grip, and try and buy a pack of springs and buttons.
Are front slide serrations on pistols a meme?
Yes.
Are they a good meme or are they pointless for everyone who isn't some tier 1 operator larper?
Thank you, I also thought about the resized 30-06, but wikipedia said that 30-06 was 7.62x63 and not x62 so i wasn't sure.
They are like having Xtreme stippling on a Glock grip. It is a completely legitimate feature for people who may well be shooting in heavy rain and extreme environments, but literally anybody you see at the range is not that person.
Serrations are at least done at the factory unlike horrific stipple jobs so they don’t really hurt anything.
Isn't the Burris the only one in that price range?
I had a Leupold VX-R Scout. It was awesome, but a bit more than $400, and I don't think it offers enough eye relief for use in a true scout configuration (i used it on a lever action). Forward mounted, but not mounted out in front of the receiver.
why would you ever need front serrations?
>plane gets shot once by a towel head's AK
>entire plane thrown off balance and extremely hard to control
>shot again in the engine block
>engine ceases to function almost immediately
>crash land and get sodomized by abdul and gang for months on end
Anyone got any idea on bayonet compatability for a yugo m48a mauser? I just picked up my first mauser, and Im looking for a bayonet, but not sure which one to get.
Anyone got a recomendation for a good scope capable of nightvision? I know a man with a varmint problem.
Why is the arsenal poly furniture so shit? Like holy fuck, $900 bucks and the stock is ass. My fudd dad was just disgust at it. What AK stock has good cheek weld?
>implying that doesnt make them prettier
Is there an optic that
>fixed power around 10x
>daylight illuminated
>light
>sturdy
I have a decent budget.
Weight and balance gets fucked. With a useful amount of ammo your gross weight is peaking fast.
Hitting anything with a fixed 7.62 will put you in a dive profile that will leave you easy pickings to any kind of rifle fire
t. ~100 hours in a Skylane
A better solution would be to remove the passenger door and have a belt-fed gunner shoot from a racetrack pattern.
PA 1-8 is all I can think of off the top of my head
Leupold probably makes an illuminated 3-9x at this point. Unsure.
I know 10x scopes are a thing, it's hard to believe there are no decent ones with bright good quality illuminated reticles. Like I have no problem paying 1000 to 2000 for a decent scope like that.
Technically the organized state militia. Can be called up for state crisis response by the state governor or federal military service by the President in a time of war.
Some full time members to manage things at the local installations, but most are reserve status. Usually train 1 weekend a month plus a 2 week block once a year.
Each of our national military branches have a Reserve component, which usually train at the same intervals as the Guard. But the difference is that they're the reserve component of the regular military and are organized by and answer to the federal government only. So while there is an Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine reserve, the National Guard are organized into units modeled on only the Army and Air Force, and interface with those branches when called up to national service.
Think it's because at that level of zoom, an illuminated optic is detrimental to precision shooting. So you're stuck with day scopes or a night optic setup.
moving to Russia in a few weeks. not a Russian citizen. what are my options for self-defense? traumatic pistols look interesting.
Something with illumination levels would be fine especially at that quality price point. If the brightness can be simply dialed up or down depending on the situation, it would be pretty good.
Why is everyone selling their XD9s?
Was there a recall or something wrong with it?
Cali Armslist had them for real cheap.
I would imagine there's tons of police officers getting rid of theirs. At this point it's common knowledge that they're the worst of the 3 most common duty guns compared to the M&P and Glock.
>Springfield
not even once.
I'm in the market for a new rifle
I want to buy a self loading rifle chambered in 5.56x45 and i want to buy german
Can you point me in the right direction?
You cant afford it pal
>dive profile
When he says sidemount, he means like an AC-47; think pylon turns, not diving.
But it's worth noting that basically every gunship project since the AC-47, including the small, single-engine AU-23 and AU-24, were armed with at least 20mm cannon, rather than 7.62 miniguns. I can only assume there's a reason for this.
Maybe I just want them for the looks.
