I'll start us off with a new acquisition, picked up the 45C today. That thing is a blast. Feels like shooting bowling balls compared to the VP9. Only fuckup was only bringing 200rd to break it in.
Show us your ACPs.
previous thread
Potential HK45C owner here. What do you think of the trigger? How was the accuracy and the recoil impulse? How is the balance in your hand?
I've heard that the P30 and HK45 triggers aren't that good, but have no way of verifying that. No stores around me have a full size or compact HK45 to fondle. No rental ranges near me either.
FNX45T > HK45CT
Don't bother discussing
>get the grips perfect on the full size
>change them for the compact
WHY?
Double action is heavy but not that bad. I could make hits at 10yd with one hand.
Single action is good. I assume most of the bitching about HK triggers comes from the DA part, because I had no problem making accurate shots. If you never want to deal with the DA pull at all, go LEM. I have a kit sitting at home that I'll probably install to compare.
As far as how the gun shoots, it's real nice. Recoil impulse is a hard thing to describe, but I wouldn't call it snappy, even with the +P HSTs I fed it. My double-taps were definitely slower than with my VP9, but it settled back on target between shots very naturally & I saw the sights for every shot.
Overall I'm thrilled with it. It's my first 45. Snagged it for $730 all-in. The sights seen (looks like Triji front, plain black rear) are apparently the new standard for the Tactical model. I love them, way easier to pick up & shoot fast than my VP9 mepros.
I like both honestly. The smooth sides of the 45C make it nicer to CC so it doesn't eat up your clothes or flesh.
Neither feels as good as muh VP9 though.
Thanks for the info man.
Somebody tell me why we put blue tape on 45s.
>Every advice thread I read online says a 1911's extractor should retain a loaded round decently, but loosely, and the round will droop about 30 degrees downward
>every extractor test video online shows guns that hold the flat base of even a light, empty case flush to the fucking breechface, as sturdy, straight and stiff as the turgid cock of God
Are all these videos just showing the difference between tight-fit finicky raceguns and a mid-market shooter or is one of these sources wrong? Because I don't even know what the fuck anymore.
I mean get a fucking load of this shit.
You can hear the fucking *click* as he has to physically SHOVE the casing in under the extractor. My extractor physically cannot deliver that tension because it won't move that close to the breechface; I'd have to file down the positioning lug behind the extractor groove, and given the fit and finish on this gun I don't think the flips got it *that* far out of spec.
That shit's mostly a meme
My only .45 is a 4506. What should my next .45 be?
>1911
>CZ97
>Sar K2
>USP
>babby calibers go home
Sorry friends, I'm spending a whole afternoon plinking .22lr while you were done half way through my session. How else do you git gud.
What's a meme? The quick and dirty extractor test?
Just got an FNX 45. I brought over 200 rounds with me for first day with it at least
1911. You'll learn more than you ever knew there was to learn about how short-recoil firearms work, magazines, etc.
Whether you want to or not.
I want a P30SK
Can someone please explain why Jow Forums doesn't like Glocks?
They are very light and reliable (due in part to their simple design). I'm thinking of getting one. I may be a little biased though: my dad was a trainer for a huge sheriff's department. He has trained with, trained the use of and owned a whole universe of handguns, rifles, shotguns and subs. His weapon of choice is a Glock with a 3-dot night sight.
Old handguns are aesthetic.
they are tied for last place
Why doesn't FN make an FNX-9 tactical
Anyone have a Ruger P series? How are they? Is stainless the way to go?
I just got back from the range and the guy there said he could sell me a new hk mk23 Is this for real? I thought they discontinued it?
No, they still make them. I had one sitting at one of my distros for weeks about 2 months ago.
>Can someone please explain why Jow Forums doesn't like Glocks?
As a massive fucking 1911 fag, I can say - we don't.
We don't actually dislike Glocks. It's almost entirely a meme and perpetuated mostly for fun. Glock is pretty much the archetypal handgun now due to extreme ruggedness, reliability, and low cost. The fact that it has incredible mechanical accuracy is just a bonus. Genuine dislike of Glocks stems from their somewhat mushy triggers and sometimes blocky-as-fuck ergonamics. However, once you realize you can ride the trigger reset on a Glock pretty well, and now that they've got some more options ergonamics-wise, most of that can be compensated for.
Glocks work, we're just too hipster to be caught dead saying so.
Because everyone likes to be different and can't stand when something is popular.
Can you not make a new thread until the old one reaches bump limit?
Even worse is when you're too lazy to post a link to the new thread.
What's it like being a contrarian retard
What 1911 is it?
>What 1911 is it?
American Classic - a flip gun from MetroArms, an Amscor competitor. Reasonably well-fit in every other respect. Same gun I was describing in and Only thing that looks wrong with the extractor is, it's just a hair too long; it contacts the case bevel but only just barely holds the rim off the breech face. It's so slight I could probably file down the outside of the extractor and remove the difference.
Still, with such a long hook it REALLY doesn't seem like it should be dinging rims at all. Dunno wtf.
That's sort of what I've gathered from my short time browsing here: Jow Forums know that Glocks are good but don't want to admit it. I have heard similar criticisms about the Glock trigger though.
oh FUCK yes, hopefully i'll own my own pretty soon. thanks Jow Forums
special snowflakes don't like Glocks for a myriad of reasons
the truth is that they just hate the other snowflakes that say things like "its the only handgun you'll ever need" or if they start quoting tommy lee jones from US Marshalls
Anyone with a brain hates both of these groups, but not Glocks
Honestly it's a good gun but not amazing. I'd actually recommend a USP45 tactical over it.
>babby calibers go home edition
K. I'm home now, postan babby gats in babby calibers
It's a meme. They're not terribly interesting or exciting, but they are adequate for most purposes.
The Glock trigger kinda sucks because the mechanism is so incredibly simple to hard to really modify much beyond the angle of the connector without risking lower reliability or safety. It’s serviceable but the M&Ps has more potential if you want to be a trigger snob (but if that’s all you’re after just get a PPQ and call it a day).
Also, that same attitude is spilling over into HK criticism now too, which is why you get so much “HK TRIGGERS ARE GARBAGE” as if anyone buys an HK for the trigger and not a Walther or Beretta.
I'm buying it cause of MGS, i can admit that.
I like German guns and Guns that are big in anime and vidya.
btw Grabagun had one in stock couple days ago for 1900 or so.
Right on, I've been known to buy guns for..... reasons.
How are you liking that thing aside from the case issue? I've been thinking of getting a flip 1911 because they seem like a good deal for the price, and I don't hear much that's distinctly bad about them.
I'm between that, a Citadel, and one of the upgraded RIAs, though I think the Citadel and RIA are nearly the same.
Is it that the USP is better than it, or that it's not better than the USP enough to justify the big price difference?
I enjoyed shooting the 45T more.
Glocks are very dependable tupperware. My trigger autism causes issues though. Even if I can modify the after-market triggers to function the way I want, I still prefer steel.
Buy guns because they make you happy.
That's all that matters.
I think we can all respect that. Certainly a better reason than “I want to CC it and convert it to .460 Rowland” or whatever stupid excuse people like to come up with ITT to pretend they’re not getting one just because they’ve wanted to be Solid Snake since they were 12.
ok so its a budget 1911
I don't see any issue in trying to shave the extractor down in that case. Have you tried contacting MetroArms about it?
grabagun.com
Here you go bud.
Made me think of this awesome MGS scene:
Raiden also wanted to be Snake. Unfortunately for him, he succeeded.
Snake also used a USP, incidentally
I can appreciate Glock, I just fucking hate its insane cult-tier fanbase.
>Glock trigger isn't bad, it's actually a very well balanced duty/carry trigger and you can make some seriously surgical shots with it
>USP is not out dated and is one of the (but not THE) most modular guns on the market
>The Mark 23 is not too big for CC, duty, or competition, and is a very quality gun worthy of the navy seal copypasta level hype
>The 1911 is a perfectly reliable design if it's made with good QC
>Sig firearms are not as high end as they once were, but the P22x series are still in the top tier of duty guns
>CZ pistols are fan.fucking.tastic.
>.32acp is adequate (but not ideal) for CC, especially with modern ammo
>Taurus makes a couple good guns and if you buy one of the well publicized failures you are at fault
So, my indecisive ass is asking for the last time before I stop annoying you.
Should I get a Burris Fastfire for a Ruger 22/45?
sure why not
I thought this edition is all about bigboy caliber handguns. All I see are capguns ITT
Red dots on handguns are great training tools. 22s are great training guns. Sounds like a solid plan.
Sure, but if you're looking at a iii, only if it's cheap. And be aware the battery cap likes to fly the fuck off, taking out the rubber ring lets you snug it down more.

anyone know how to ignore trips? this fag litters these threads every day it seems
Funny, all I see is a POS IYP.
I wrote a greasemonkey script that mutes all trips. I have shared it a few times. If you know how to use greasemonkey I can post it.
yep I can Greasemonkey

pasta will expire in 1 hour.
>this fag litters these threads every day it seems
I've been in nearly every single /hg/ thread since the second or third edition. Are you seriously just now realizing this? Or are you new to the general and just being angsty?
awesome thanks
Not him, but why do you even trip? What purpose does it serve?
Do you need us to all know you're a "/hg/ regular"? Are you attempting to build rapport among the Jow Forums image board /hg/ community, oh lauded purveyor of truth and knowledge?
Unrelated question, have you ever been to a website called "reddit"?
Muh acp
Thanks, just ordered it.
It's gonna feel weird, I've been shooting everything with iron sights only for several years.
I've got my largest and my smallest calibers in this pic. Also, you made the thread too early.
Nice!
ehhhhh
m e m e s
USP
same
Just uninteresting guns.
Agreed.
Dubs demand to know.
Understood.
Goddamn, this tickles my pickle in such ways.
Dubs means truthful.
Wait, I thought you were a newfag! THAT'S MY PURSE, I DON'T KNOW YOU!
it's a challenge at first, but it will make you better, even with irons.
>How are you liking that thing aside from the case issue? I've been thinking of getting a flip 1911 because they seem like a good deal for the price, and I don't hear much that's distinctly bad about them.
It's pretty much perfect.
This one in particular has very few quirks; for instance, the magazine catch is not to mil-spec. Aside from that, it's *very* tightly fitted for something I paid $450 for. When I bought it, the LGS owner mentioned that he didn't think they'd be that low-priced for a while, and boy, was he right - look at what Rock Islands cost now. And for $450 I got three dot sights, extended controls, beavertail safety - all that plus the tight fit and finish, it's basically a $600 gun.
The single factory mag was a pile of shit, but they usually are; I bought a few Metalforms and never looked back.
Nope, I haven't, but they do have a forum for that particular model, so I might go ask there. Even if I fuck up the extractor I could just buy another one, I am capable of a little hand-fitting without a problem.
>post full of no-brainer greentext pretty much everyone with two IQ points to rub together knows is true
>FUCKING TRIPFAGS GET OUT [AUTISTIC SCREECHING]
I like this tripfag, he's all right.
>THAT'S MY PURSE
Think Burt was a little bobby hill when he was a kid? I like to think so.
It's kinda like cheating, but the offset over bore is weird at first and might throw you off, just stick with it and you'll do great man!
Turn your trip on PBP
user that has been asking questions yesterday here and I have another question: Does trigger weight affect accuracy?
I've been watching a few videos and one particular phrase intrigued me. The reviewer, after shooting his CZ75 SP-01, says "with the single action trigger here it is really hard to miss with this gun". Reading about the difference between the trigger actions, it seems SA has lighter pull and by intuition I think that's what makes it more accurate.
Second pistol I bought, got it in at a fun show in an American Legion for $620.
Trigger weight, pre-travel, break, and over-travel. These are all things. DA pull on a CZ style trigger increases weight and duration of pre-travel, and weight of the break. Over travel should be identical.
Best glock 20 barrel for Roland special?
does Fag Tactical make one? cause that's very gay
Glocks are cool
The only correct answer is the KKM match barrel + 4 port comp.
What exactly makes the USP modular?
Thanks for the answer. I'm off to google those terms and how they affect accuracy.
HK makes a bunch of overpriced trigger variations.
>t. usp owner
P30sk or VP9sk for my carry firearm?
I personally have a huge problem with excessive overtravel. I have no problem with pre-travel.
It’s cool
>muh shekels argument
God it feels good to own a USP45T
Yeah it does, but length of travel & smoothness have an effect too. It depends on the guns purpose too. It's nice to have a 1lb trigger with a 1/2mm pull on a bullseye gun, but inappropriate on a carry gun that you're pulling out of a holster at speed. Too easy to fire prematurely, or when you don't mean to if you're holding a gun on somebody with a finger on the trigger. I put an Ultra Match spring kit in my VP9 (carry gun) and ended up removing the lighter sear spring because it was just too easy to set off.
IMO smoothness is the biggest trigger factor related to a gun's "accuracy". My gf's LC9S has a heavier & longer pull than my VP9, but it's smooth as glass, and I can easily hit a 3" plate at 15yd with it.
the OEM trigger packs are literally the only thing a person could consider "modular" about their guns though.
>Think Burt was a little bobby hill when he was a kid? I like to think so.
I could see it. I'd like to think that I am the Boomhauer of /hg/.
The best way to think of trigger pull is in distance; if the pull is longer, you move more distance to fire the gun. A shorter trigger pull length would allow you to shoot more quickly, and a lighter trigger may be more accurate, however I find that a smooth trigger with a clean break, and nice reset, is more desirable than a strictly lighter trigger.
Awesome!
KKM, if they make one.
Reposting from last thread. Can't figure out if I want a CZ75b, SP01, or 92FS next.
Amen, brother.
since he's comparing the DA and SA trigger pull on a CZ, chances are the smoothness doesn't change there.
What's a good pistol light that won't protrude past the barrel on a full-size pistol?
Nine drop in fire control variations, including match trigger, DAO, LEM, and right/left/ambi options, three different accessory rail configurations, OEM steel magazine well on a polymer gun, shit like that.
Stop being a bitch.
>I am the Boomhauer of /hg/
I call Dale and I'll shank a bitch with an icicle to prove it.
Also, do you have my modular USP rant greentext? I have lost it.
I'm not bitching, I'm just answering the question honestly. I like my USP.
Save for a nice rifle bro, unless you have one already, looks like you're already well set on sidearms. SP01 though if I was picking between those 3. 92fs is probably the better choice but I don't like the look of them for some reason so I'm biased.
I don't, but I will dig through the fucking archival website to find it, it was that fucking good.
