Want to remove picatinny rail.
Got one screw out. It was loctited in.
The rest stripped out and are stuck.
How am I gonna get them out?
Help me /k
Removing stripped out hex screws
Get a hacksaw and saw down along the middle of the rail cutting a slot in each screw, then get them out with a flathead. If you want to save the rail get a screw extractor drill set.
>get a screw extractor drill set.
This
I’ll try that next. Right now I put an allen key into the screw and put instant loctite on it. When it hardens, I’ll try to wrench the bastard out again.
broken bolt extractor.
get one and use a new drill bit.
Smart. Will try if other shit fails.
Go find a rubber band.
Put one tassle of the rubber band over the stripped screw, then apply the screw driver. It might fill enough space and give you enough grip to get it out.
Option 2- super glue and then remove. Probably a bad idea for that one. As other anons have said, +1
That does actually work, though.
Maybe not for OP's situation.
find the right size flat screwdriver and hammer in there until it's good n wedged, then turn the nut out carefully
How has no one asked why the hell OP is doing this?
This happens often. Extractor bits usually work, but I've just stuck to using a torx bit.
Assuming there's no loctite:
Get one that's just a tad oversized (for you T10-T15), one that's just barely too big to fit in the hexagonal head of the allan screw.
Gently start tapping the torx bit, forcing it into the head of the stripped screw. As you feel it "bite" into the shape of the screw head slowly add force. Be sure to hammer straight down and don't overdo it. Take it extremely slow.
Once the bit is has a firm "bite" on the screw SLOWLY begin to turn it. I can't stress SLOW enough here.
I've had to do this hundreds of times and it usually works better than extractor sets. Fuck Trijicon and those 2mm screws on the RMR.
obviously he wants the screws out dipshit
aww yeah, it's BOOF
>Loctite
Use a torch or lighter on them.
Sounds like you mixed up a 2.5mm/3mm and a 3/32" wrench. Extremely common.
I've also done the same on rounded hex. Tapping a Torx bit into the socket is a lot less precarious than trying to free-hand drill and use an extractor. We get plenty of DIY fuck-ups that come into our shop because the guy thought he could do remove the bolt himself and save himself some change, when it just ends up costing him more.
I have a set of hex and torx sockets just for that. Ground the tips so they cut better. Stripped hex gets a torx and vis versa, sometimes have to alternate a few times.
When all else fails TIG welding a nut on does the trick.
Heat, and a screw extractor
File the point off before you use it. Makes it way easier to use
OP here. Thank you all. It’s done.
>~< But why, why have a bolt gun without/ a different rail?
Iron sights. It’s a Mossberg MVP. Hate scopes and optics. Also when I was working the bolt I slipped and took a chunk of my finger out on the corner of the rail. So no more sharp rail to cut my clumsy ass on.
Gotcha, good taste OP
>broken bolt extractor.
kek... that shit doesn't work. AT ALL. it will just break again.
