Bought an AK

I just bought my first AK. I paid about 900 dollars for an Arsenal SLR-107. Did i waste my money or is the upgrade (from wasr, ras, etc.) worth it?

Should bought a n-brap

You did good as long as you didn't get it in that color

lol. I did. Sue me.

You did good. At the price WASRs are going for now it's worth it spend a little more for the Arsenal. Get a muzzle break ASAP.

Fuck the haters. I've got one in black and one in tan. They're both great.

Hope you got a good trunnion OP.

you did fine

Depends. 107Rs were having issues the last ime i checked(couple months back).

They've been fucking up machining the bolts and trunnion resulting in wear issues.

Yep, spoke with Kvar and they said was a large issue and had to send some of their stock back to Arsenal. Also akfiles has few threads about people having issues. Wasnt worth the risk imo for how much it cost and opted for a WASR since heard the recent batch is one of the best they have imported. No regrets so far.

Only thing worse than the machining fuck up was the way KVAR and arsenal handled it. So much for that stellar reputation.

This. If you fucked up just admit it. But they didnt and said the rifles would beat themselves into spec (pic related)...and people had to fight to get them fixed. Really didnt want to get a SLR after that. Plus my WASR has zero cant, perfect rivets, nice finish, and surprisingly a good trigger.

I would just get a basic slant break.

Wtf. I literally bought Arsenal furniture in olive green with a NATO stock length.

You are retarded.

Just buy a wasr, trigger, and Wolf spring, trim down the friction, and bang you have an Arsenal for 600 buckos.

I ended up kinda bitching out and going with the NPAP DF bc i wasn't really willing to commit to the ~1k for my first AK... ran almost a 100 rounds through it today and ran smooth as butter

op here... The nagging doubt was actually more about buying a sam7 for a few hundred more. would that have been worth?

i had buyers remorse for a similar AK at a similar price point until i saw the AR-15 takedown and cleaning process. You can't beat simple.

I was jealous of AR's because of their flat trajectory, their awesome manual of arms, and their ligjt weight. I didn't see all the benefits of a nice AK.

Piston driven, side charging, COLD HAMMER FORGED BARREL, shoots a big fat fuck-you-in-your-other-eye round, so easy to operate. I love my rifle.

which model?

I like it user. Looks bretty gud.

AKM duh

Yea K-var’s stock from earlier in the year were doing this. It apparently doesn’t affect the functionality of the rifle, but like you were saying, it turned into a shitshow because Arsenal kept refusing to admit their fuckup.

I picked up one of the last 107R’s about two weeks ago too, but I have not ran into any of these issues so far. I think any newer 107R’s are now good to go.

Enjoy your rifle, OP. I certainly am.

I'm 2000 rds into mine. I love it. Does 2 inch groups with Golden tiger ammo and a primary arms x3

Why not both?

WASR's are the gold standard for 7.62's right now. Arsenal's are good but not for 300 dollars more.

I wouldn't pay Arsenal prices unless you are getting a 5.45 or 5.56 rifle.

This. With a WASR you can get an arsenal with $100 of mods and a lot of labour. WASR's can be improved enough to be onpair with Arsenals, Arsenals cannot be imprlved however.
