Pieces of metal
I don't think your brain has enough time to process the sounds, let alone the explosion.
So to answer your question: Nothing.
it was the kikes all along
I thought it only exploded after u removed ur foot not as soon as u stepped on it, at least the old ones anyways.
Fpbp
Wonder why the fuck the guy who planted this mine did such a shitty job leaving it so exposed, then wonder why the fuck it made a clicking sound and took so long to detonate.
I hope they don't look at my files

Hollywood myth. If you want to kill someone you don't give them time to figure out how to disarm it.
shit, makes sense, thanks user.
Always thought it was like u know in generation war, ur comrades look all sad at u and walk away and u have time to make ur peace before becoming a red patch on the mud.
Thoughts of my son, obviously.

From people who have lived through landmines the moment they realize they stepped on one all the can hear is their heartbeat screaming between their ears. Like when you get jump scared or that sensation of falling. All of that zaps through your body in an intense burning jolt of blood pressure and panic as it makes your way to your head. The most amount of physical pain you can feel from an emotional projection of a simple "i fucked up". They say the pain of realizing what happened is more painful than the missing limbs. It's why they normally scream how sorry they are for stepping on it or about how stupid they are. It really does suck.

No you dumb schmucks, there is no time to think, the trigger has no delay, it is instantaneous.
FUGG
If it's instantaneous that probably gives you enough time to have a wank.
Some really early eurofag mines did that and some AT mines to get the first and second vehicle in a convoy but for the most part step boom.

You cannot patrol (mounted or unmounted) without accepting that fact, if you think and focus on anything else, it will paralyze you from effective action.
Knew a guy like that, and he made every excuse he could to stay on the FOB/COP.
Most times there is no click or audible indicator. There are accounts where survivors indicated they felt the mine/IED as they activated it, but those sort of testimonies are the minority in most cases. Those minority accounts are due to somewhat obvious reasons, but not all devices are intended/do kill their target.
Many victim-operated, command-operated, RC-operated devices, IR (exist, but rare), you have no indication at all if not observed before engaging the device.
A 5-10 second delay might be desirable if you could make it in such a way that the soldier didn't know they stepped on it. This would allow more of the enemy squad to be near the device. I often wonder why land mines aren't able to be tied together to slave detonate. e.g. Enemy patrol is walking along an embankment the first and last mines are masters everything in between is a slave. Basically any which way the patrol is walking will result in detonation after a set amount of time.

This takes away the advantage of walking spaced and not bunching up. The point man triggers the mines 15-20 seconds later while the rest of the patrol is standing on the slaves !!

Landmines don't go click.
I think one long out of date landmine does this and it's Russian. All others go boom, right away.
Finally.
>A 5-10 second delay might be desirable if you could make it in such a way that the soldier didn't know they stepped on it
The way simplest anti-infantry mines are deployed, it's very unlikely that one actually gets triggered before squad makes a good way into the field. That's half the point of it (aside from straight up area denial).
> I often wonder why land mines aren't able to be tied together to slave detonate
Literally how controlled mine fields work, like the ancient Soviet УMПH-68 system. The thing is - most of the time a force has to resort to using mine fields, they are usually too strapped for manpower and material to do anything more than your basic WWI-tier conscript-dropped dumb rows.
>Knew a guy like that, and he made every excuse he could to stay on the FOB/COP.
How is that possible? Isn't the whole point of a command structure that people are given orders and follow them?
