I got my PGO-7 on my AK74. Problem turned out to be the dust cover was getting in the way of a screw on the side of the optic that prevented it from mounting to the rail.

It's really nice. I tried crafting a ghetto cheek riser for it but I honestly like it with just the shrink wrap. Haven't shot with it yet - I'm curious to see if the rubber recoil pad makes a big difference.

They weren't your typical super-dark Balkan Wars handguards or anything. They came looking more like the virgin blonde wood you see on OPAPs and M92s, except with pretty ugly surface wear/decay.
I just sanded down to blonde wood and started hitting it with BLO, nothing special.

Can someone help me out with which AK to buy? Price doesn't really matter as long as the gun is actually worth what it's selling for, I just want something with good enough tolerances to not bother me that will last longer than me.
Ideally I would like the gun to be as standard as possible so I have furniture options and no wierd bullshit going on.
Are milled receivers worth it or just heavy memes?

Yes I understand, but you just do it with the trunnion as a template. Drill undersize for the latch areas with the trunnion in place and open it up slowly with a dremel and file set.

Unless the wobble is janky as fuck, there’s really no reason to be worried about mag wobble on a 7.62 AK. I’ve seen more problems with the magwell being too tight to properly seat the magazine or overzealous riveting on the inside of the magwell causing squished magazines. 5.45/5.56 AKs, on the other hand, need to be pretty tight in there due to the round being much smaller

Looking at a 74 parts kit where some of the parts have remnants of the barrel in them. Can I just lube them up and push the barrel out, assuming i have removed anything that retains the part to the barrel. For reference the following parts have remains front sight, gas block, rear sight assembly, and barrel trunnion.

You're looking at this the wrong way. It doesn't matter what AK you buy. Usually everything fits at first but if you want to change anything it may not fit exactly right because so much stuff has been made by so many different countries. I have Bulgarian, Russian, and polish parts on my rifle.
Some things turn into little projects which I love. I had to mold epoxy around my handguard to keep it from wiggling. I had to mill out the hole in the bottom of my grip to fit my screw etc.

If you're going to buy it from a brick and mortar store you won't get a cheaper price than Atlantic - which are quality checked.
The truth is: wasrs manufactured after 2015 are all gtg. The only issues some people have are magazine wells that are too tight but that's an easy fix.
This is all assuming you want to buy new. Otherwise find a deal on akfiles.
