Ordered one of these to hold my stripper clips for my SIS. It has 10 pockets, and i have 10 stripper clips. A match made in heaven.
Also I have an alice pack so I don't really need anything more than a bandolier to hold my stripper clips. Everything else is on the alice rig.

I personally have a fetish for old school surplus. All this modern tacticool stuff doesn't appeal to me as much as my ALICE rig does. It does what I need it to, and stops there. The aesthetics are great too.
Also surplus is way cheaper.

Tbh my preferred plate carrier is from BDS tactical. YOu can customise the color OD, Ranger Green, Coyote etc and what you want on it. Plus it's American made

How are you liking that Ronin belt?

I went from an HSGI suregrip belt to a Ronin. Does everything I want in a tighter package.

Have same item, solid enough gear for the price, only gripe is the needless small pocket on left shoulder/chest area.

my issue with the belts is when I bend over it rides up my lower back, then shit moves and twists... drives me up the wall

Ronin is attached by velcro, so it doesnt move, sag, etc.

So worth the buy then... or would you recommend it?

not that user, but own a ronin TF myself, never been happier. Never had a problem with it, hold holster/glock, 2 mag pouches, IFAK, general purpose pouch, etc. Holds everything extremely well

What plates would yall recommend? I like the level 3 protection I have, but the 8lbs each weighs me down like crazy. Should I compromise rifle protection for lighter weight 3A plates?

I know chest rig =/= plate carrier, but I thought it was still relevant to ask.

I don't know much about plates. What if I stacked two level 3A soft plates together, would that stop a rifle? Because that would still be much lighter than 8lbs. Though I guess if I were going to spend that much money I might as well just get ceramic or something that is both equally light and strong.

I am building an ALICE rig right now, thankfully the mag pouches will fit G3 mags if you cut the dividers out. I may buy a separate chest rig for mags and just use the belt mag pouches for other gear like first aid etc.

Tactical vests seem pretty good and convenient to me. They offer enough room for all kinds of pouches, including 4 MOLLE row high pouches. If you don’t want plates, they’re a very good option IMO. If you don’t need tons of stuff on your vest, then a small chest rig might be sufficient and maybe more comfortable.
