Cz52 value

Gun store I sometimes frequent has a cz52 in good condition with 1 mag and a holster for $350. Is this a good price, or is it over priced? Anything I should know about these pistols other than the fragile firing pin?

Its not horrible, see if you can talk them into making it the out the door price.
The days of 200 dollar cz52s are gon man

How is the reliability, any known issues?

the only negative i think is the brittle firing pin. its one of the few modern pistols youre not supposed to dry fire.
$350 is so so, id say thats on par with going prices if you bought online (plus shipping and trasnfer fee)

Buy some extra rollers and extra firing pins, they are cheap abd the weak points. Easy to fix WHEN they go bad.
Dont dry fire

speaking of which, theres a guy on either akfiles or ar15.com that sells aftermarket hardened firing pins. pretty affordable although i cant remember the price. maybe $20 or something like that

Thanks for the info Jow Forumsomrads

I am selling mine for $300 and haven't had any bites. You could probably go lower.

It gets gummed up pretty easy, so be aware of that.

How are they compared to tokarevs, reliability wise? I've been wanting a tok but I haven't seen any except the Serbian ones and I thought the CZ might be a good alternative.

i bought one for $250 that was converted to 9mm last year, no holster. bought a tok barrel from apex for around $40, word is there's a very thin spot in the chamber of the tok barrels.

I've hear they can have problems with cracking because of just how violent the recoil system is, not sure how much of a problem it is but something to keep in mind if you want to shoot it a lot, maybe consider somewhat weaker load ammunition, she's an old gal.

Never herd of this.
It might be conflated with the brittle firing pin. Ive got thousands of smg TOK rounds through mine.
The rounds split sometimes

i think milsurpdude has some pictures about the exact issues with the design

I just got a surplus yugo m57 from classic firearms for about 230, really good condition

Firing pin is soft and weak, replacements exists.

The action isn't particularly strong, being designed originally for 9mm Luger and then rather sloppily converted to 7.62mm Tokarev, with commercial ammo, it runs fine, but Bulgarian surplus can actually blow it up (it's loaded much hotter, as they only used this caliber in subguns, not adopting any pistols in it, there's a lot of confusion on this subject). Don't get adventurous with handloading.

As far as pistols go, this is the weakest the Czechs produced in my opinion, a far cry from the excellent CZ75.

One guy around Jow Forums posted pics, granted his might have just been a lemon but still, I wouldn't want to put too much stress on old milsurp.

I've got both a CZ52 and the Serb m57 Tok. The CZ is heavier and to me feels clunkier in the hand. The trigger and accuracy is better, but the trigger pin on mine has a habit of walking out. I prefer the Tokarov.

Is it blued or does it have the gray finish? Gray is original, but quite a few were reblued for export.

As an aside, Yugo M57 magazines will interchange

Probably a bit much, but do disassemble and inspect it to make sure it's in good condition, if you proceed. I bought one last year, and the breech ramp / cartridge rail had been battered somehow--probably due to failed rollers. It ran fine, but totally jacked up ejected brass, until i did a bit of home gunsmithing.

Cool gun, despite a rocky start. The safety pokes me in the web of the hand when ready to fire. This is my biggest complaint.

>smg TOK
Where from? The Soviets only had one load for 7.62mm Tokarev, used in both pistols and subguns.

Unless its from Bulgaria, it's not an 'smg load', because only they did that. That stuff is known to ruin Cz52 pistols in a real hurry, being loaded way hotter. I'm kind of doubting you're feeding it Bulgarian ammo, even if it hasn't exploded you would have noticed it.

lot of tok threads lately

Tok's are neat guns
>tfw glock, CZ, and sig will never make modern handguns in 7.62x25

For nostalgia reasons, i have a cz52. Its one of one two guns in my collection that ive never shot. Not because the gun is valuable or anything, its just i never had the interest in shooting it. Kind of weird.
In fact, i might go to the range tomrrow and put a few mags through it

Theres the dominion arms sig copy. To bad we cant get it here in the US. I agree though, a new production x25 pistol would be neat

Do it, bitch

you want new firing pin and rollers. luckily a guy makes both.

some bulgarian surplus ammo is also too hot and could kaboom the pistol.

You won't regret buying a 52, they're fun pistols. My wife purchased hers as a first handgun, with the armorer's kit, and loves the damn thing. I was leaning towards her getting a PPQ, which she also liked, but she fell in love with the old 52 and made up her mind. It's pretty damn accurate and is one of the very few SAO pistols with a decocker. However, along when the other folks talking about the firing pin and not using smg ammo, always decock the gun into your Clearing Log™ in your sink. After years the internal mechanism that makes it safe to decock can just make the gun fire instead. Good luck and have fun!

Actually, I might just be completely misremembering this.

solid wood grips are aesthetic

Isn't the Cz52 DA/SA?

She says thank you. I have to get a pair for mine, the wife's looks so much better than mine.
I mean, both mine and the wife's are SAO. So unless they're both hooped I'm fairly sure it's an SAO.

what state dood

For some reason I've always been infatuated with these things and I've never even held one in my hand. Just something about the look of these guns makes me want one..... but never enough to actually go to the trouble of buying one.

You willing to ship to ffl? I'll give you 300$ no problem. Been hunting for a cz52 for a long time but there aren't any around here

Op here, I feel the same way. It's a cool pistol in the way that it works, but it just looks kinda odd. I'm not really a collector of historical guns, I just like older pistols that I can shoot. My current pistol collection consists of a FN HP, bulgy mak, CZ 83, and a PA 83 in .32acp.

*PA 63, not 83
