I can only speak for myself, but I don't really know if there is a perfect gun thats both very capable as a sporter, and as a fun gun.

I've had lots of fun with a glock 34, and not done too badly in competitions with them, though if you wanna have fun you'd just have a regular old glock, and if you wanted to win, you probably wouldn't use a glock.

if you found a reliable Luger you could use as a beater, and get past its somewhat awful sights, that's a very unique and special pick that you could also become quite capable with. the P08 used to be really popular over here before the competition ready raceguns we can buy today, became a thing.
