Taking this 1917 Oberndorf out to the range tomorrow. I bought a couple extra sights for it that I can hopefully modify to zero at 100m instead of 400m.

God damnit

how many shekels?

why were old guns so much more aesthetic than modern shit?
Cars I understand, because of muh safety and aerodynamics means everything needs to look like a bar of soap
but why are newly made guns so boring?

Can't wait till my trip can be used again. How am I supposed to be a attention whore without it?

Is that one of those goofy Czech training cartridges? Always wanted to grab some of those, they're retardedly high velocity, like 3500fps or something.

Not sure, desu. They are czech, dude at the ammo barn had them labelled as short range ammunition.

More than I'd like to admit. I'm glad i have it but I think I spent an extra few hundred than I should. I've been wanting one for years though. Gun show prices are ridiculous and only sold by collectors and gunbroker is similar.

Guess what we got here

Looking to buy a C96, how much would a complete one with it's wooden holster/stock and extra mag go for?

Armslist has beat to shit ones going for $1600 just the gun itself.

Also, is it an SBR?

Ban evasion. For posts that occurred before I was banned. And they didn't even have the balls to tell me so in my appeal.

Would $350 for a good condition Steyr m95 carbine with some nazi ammo be fair?
Found lots of old posts talking about how you could find one for like $100 years ago, but looking on Gunbroker and shit it seems like it's closer to the $300+ area nowadays.

The absolute state of Jow Forums

How much ammo? And what's the condition?

It's all there and in good condition though I didn't check if it was all matching. No bayonet or sling.
I didn't count the ammo but I'd say there was at least 20 rounds with 2 of the stripper clips.

Finally got my M95 l o n g b o i today, too bad the USPS did a suprise paratrooper conversion ;-;

what was the packaging like? underpacked?

Attached: 1518384968698.jpg (586x577, 184K)

box was yuge but the dealer destroyed it with bubble wrap and foam, the box got crushed in something during the shipping. Probably why there were no scans for 2 days and it was suddenly at the FFL.

Attached: IMG_20180405_162528.jpg (1080x1440, 381K)

I mourn your loss comrade.

man that sucks balls. im hoping it was insured for the full amount

Contact the seller and get him to file a claim against the postal service. Hopefully he did the write thing and paid for insurance.

Already contacted the Seller, hes gonna put a new stock in the mail (he just has one on hand I guess) plus a partial refund, then he's gonna sort out the rest with the Postal Service. It was at least a clean break with no splintering so somebody will be able to repair it quite easily.

Attached: IMG_20180405_162519.jpg (724x966, 215K)

Repair the stock with the refund and then you will have two stocks.

I assume that the stock is matching to the gun. I would rather you repair the original. Yes, it can be fixed if done right.

Didn't Jow Forumsapt drop his 98az and had a similar break?

Damn, guns like these used to be an easy 200 sometimes even 300. Now everyone's going fucking nuts over them and selling them for thousands.

I'm defo getting it repaired, I just want it done by a competent smith rather then the Bubbarizer places around me.

Attached: IMG_20180405_162512.jpg (724x966, 312K)

There is a Jow Forumsomrad here who fixed my Mauser when it broke and did a fucking AMAZING job. I still need to send him a present.
Yes I did.

F

Lads, I know absolutely nothing about milsurps, help a brotha out.

I just got back from shooting my buddy's mosin and had an absolute blast. I was surprised by how much fun it was, I always thought bolt actions were kinda boring.

Anyway, if I wanted a good cheap milsurp bolt action, aside from a mosin, what should I be looking at? All I know are mosins, and the name Mauser, but nothing about them. How much would I have to spend? I don't have much dough, and I kind of want something other than a mosin. I'd also want to use it for deer hunting, as well as just target shootin'.

You need a time machine

Milsurp isn't cheap anymore man, especially for plinking.

You are about 20 years too late...

Attached: 1520218693659.jpg (1408x989, 442K)

>Milsurp isn't cheap anymore man, especially for plinking.
very unfortunately this.
will we ever see a time when there's another cheap plinking round/gun?

rip
how expensive are they now? my friend told me he got his mosin for $150.

We will see it when NFA is remove, which will be never

Attached: e92.jpg (2592x1944, 716K)

Not milsurp. ARs are cheap and so are 22s and shotguns.
250-325, depending on location and a bunch of shit. Ammo is around 50cpr now too.

Attached: 20180208_171144.jpg (3715x986, 2.39M)

If you are looking for a genuine, Russian made M44, consider yourself lucky if you manage to get it around $300

If you are looking for a Russian 91/30, you are looking at about $250

If you are looking for something with a touch of je ne sais quoi(ie:Finnish Mosin) then you will be paying a premium

My local gun shop is selling mixture of M44 and 91/30 all for $323, but it does come with original receiver and cleaning kit

Attached: 1518968292029.jpg (400x550, 46K)

What did that repair run you? I'll pay pretty much anything but I'm moving next month and need to budget accordingly.

Milsurp is still cheap if you take your time and don't buy the first thing you see. I grabbed my first Mosin (Chinese T53, no matching numbers) for $200 at a show in Minnesota last spring. The first rifle I paid more than $300 for is the busted-ass M95 as seen above. Ammo isn't as cheap as it was but that's what happens when you get guns in 123-year-old meme calibers.

Posting other surps to lighten the mood. Here's a Ross MK2 I grabbed for $125 a few months back.

Attached: IMG_20180123_220336496.jpg (4320x2432, 3.39M)

>Take your time and don't buy the first thing you see.

Absolutely this, in my case I went through 5 shop and a gun store to make my decision.

Got myself a 44 Long Branch Lee-Enfield for 500 bucks, very happy with it.

Attached: DSC_0155.jpg (1920x1080, 709K)

Fuck, I meant 5 gun shop and a gun show

All of my rifles except for my SKS were within 200-300, all were impulse buys, I think.
Beat that!

Attached: Family.jpg (2000x2391, 1.88M)

I got my Mosin for less than 100 bucks 8 years ago and picked up a Mauser for 225 a few weeks ago. If you go to gunshows and know what you want to buy, you'd probably find a Mosin or 1916 Spanish Mauser (also known as a FR-7) for sub 300. That's not a bad price, and ammo for both can be had for 40 cents a round if you order online.

Attached: IMG_5389.jpg (3264x2448, 1.38M)

Also all of the floors in my home are on the wall. The neighbors put in a new gravity well that's really making my day heck

Attached: IMG_5362.jpg (3264x2448, 1.55M)

That's not bad at all. That's about what i'd want to pay. 50 cpr is kind of expensive though. But yeah, my budget would be under 500 anyway. And that's for a mosin?

Yeah i have another friend who somehow got a finnish mosin many years ago. Kinda jelly. What about non-mosin rifles though? I don't even know any specific models or brands.

Hey I also live in MN. What gun show? I've never been to one here.

But yeah, what non mosin rifles should I look in to?

Yes it's an SBR and it costs a decent amount of money to get your hands on one.

I like your dog.

Spanish Mausers can be found for under 150, ammo is still available

It would be terrible if you were in possession of a rifle shorter than 16.5 inches

C96s that we're originally fitted with a stock are exempt from NFA rules. Same with hi-powers, lugers, and a couple other pistols.

Thanks, I'm sure he probably likes you too.
ATF please go. No fun here.

Attached: IMG_5332.jpg (3264x2448, 1.52M)

>non-mosin rifles though

Entirely depend on what you are looking for

>Lee-Enfield
You are looking at around $500 for a decent one
Less if you find a Poo in the Loo version
Ammo is going to cost you though

>M1 Grand
Around $1000 to $1500
Since PMC is releasing 100,000 so it should be a little bit cheaper now

>Arisaka
Depend on the quality, a good one with the Imperial Seal can run you a couple thousand
However, I have seen some without going for around $700
Ammo is a big pain if you don't handload

>M1 Carbine
Reproduction version are available for around $500
But if you want a genuine 40-ish production, you will be paying a pretty high price (My local gun shop is selling a 1945 Winchester made for $1800)

>Mauser
Again, depending on quality it can run you from $700-$2000

That is pretty much everything that is common enough from the top of my head

Attached: 1522899652087.jpg (2880x2160, 1.26M)

I got my 2nd Lebel last montu for $250.

Attached: 20180314_124226.jpg (3906x944, 2.35M)

Even poo in loo enfields are $500 now

Really? I thought they still run around $3-400?

Have they raised that much?

Nevertheless, the ammo along would justify the cost to be honest...

Attached: 1518650861271.jpg (500x568, 79K)

There’s 3 on GB right now. The cheapest one is $420, you’re going to be close to $500 after transfer. I just paid $425 for this one from my LGS.

Attached: FFFDC5A3-06A7-4A58-AB99-9DA1B60DB07D.jpg (4032x3024, 1.68M)

Dats pretty good. I've been slightly interested in them, but they're a little farther down the list for me.

I'm from ND, I crossed the river to go to the Thief River Falls show. Mosins are a great first surp if you can find one for sub-200, but if you find literally anything else in that same price range at the same show pick that up instead. Pic semi-related, a bubba'd MAS 36 and my first M95 that I got bundled for $400 at a show in Fargo.

Attached: Snapchat-1215613593.jpg (1280x720, 256K)

Hopefully gonna have 3 or 4 guns up on Armslist tomorrow. Pic unrelated.

Attached: SOV - M91-59 Mosin-Nagant.jpg (3506x621, 1.33M)

Yooooooo what price you got? I'll buy that thing right now.

I'm keeping that one, but I have another one that I'll probably sell. Pic related. I hadn't thought much about price yet, what would you think is fair? Assuming you're interested in this one, it's a bit uglier.

Attached: SOV - M91-59 2Mosin-Nagant.jpg (2560x1440, 1.07M)

Knowing literally nothing about 91/59s other than they have nice triggers, I would do 284.95 + shipping.

What's bubbad about it, I don't know anything about these guns.

Ayy ND bro. Fargo here

The stock is cut back, the barrel too I think. Also as part of that they removed the bayonet tube.

They are post-war cutdown 91/30s. Someone took a bunch of 91/30s and cut them down into carbines, presumably as a cheap way of arming second and third-line troops. E-mail me.

That’s a Chinese stock

All trips must be purged. Your ban was just the beginning, untermensch

Attached: 6278477.gif (336x244, 61K)

Should look like this. A company called Golden State Arms imported a bunch in the late 40's and professionally sporterized them, even added a safety. I've had this thing for like 8 months and never shot it because nobody ever has 7.5 French

Attached: MAS_Modèle_36.jpg (1128x511, 234K)

How can you tell?
>mfw RIA had it listed as an M38

ammoseek.com/ammo/7.5x54mm-french

Attached: AUS - M95.jpg (2560x1440, 1.17M)

I know, I used ammoseek to get some 8x56R from SGAmmo, they were fresh out of 7.5 so I got some Wolf .303 instead to try out.

Attached: IMG_20180123_220358001.jpg (4320x2432, 3.2M)

Actually, I don’t know what the fuck is going on with that stock. Wait, is that a 91/38? Holy shit.

>Chinese stock
>screwed-in escutcheon
Pick one.

Okay m8, that stock looks like an m91/38 stock. M91/38s were made from cut down M91s. Yours is obviously a 91/59, from the rear sight, but that stock has a pre war sling escutcheon. So unless it’s somehow a bubba job I’m very interested in how this happened. You might ask someone on gunboards for more information before you sell that.

It's a 91/59.

I got it from RIA, they called it an M38.

Attached: 20180328_210742.jpg (2560x1440, 1.07M)

Well I found this.

Attached: 1ff6541741[1].png (1880x47, 8K)

That’s actually pretty interesting. All 91/59s I’ve seen had pressed in escutcheons or none at all like a wartime stock. Still, I wonder if someone tried to sand the stock at some point, since that escutcheon is so shiny.

It's awfully smooth, so I wouldn't be surprised, but that may have even been part of the refurb when they were cut down.

I sold a really nice one for $500 about 6 months ago.

>Mauser
>Again, depending on quality it can run you from $700-$2000

Ayyyylma no. You can get a quality poverty mauser for $350-$500. Or order a Garand from CMP for $650. Arisakas shouldn't be $700 either

Attached: IMG_20170711_163456.jpg (3864x1707, 1.76M)

Please don't tell them about the arisakas, I really need to get one.

Attached: YuuriSad1.png (919x1080, 481K)

nigga you dumb. get a mix match to shoot, if you break the matching extractor you will fucking lose 30% of the value right off the bat.

Just ask Kapt how his stock turned out.

Attached: Woodgluefailure.jpg (1920x847, 416K)

Buy one then you lazy potato

Attached: IMG_20170909_164326.jpg (4259x1226, 1.32M)

>
no its a 91/30 stock thats been chopped down. 91/59s are literal 91/30s converted to carbines

poverty mausers can be had for sub-$200. turkish mausers and south american mausers are great deals and cheap right now

I can fix it if you like. You can email me at [email protected]
