I'm really not much of a conspiracy theorist. Was Paddock a lone domestic terrorist, a patsy for an arms deal gone bad, a deliberate ploy to sway public opinion against gun owners? I don't know. Mostly I take things at face value. I think he probably was acting alone.
But regardless. The question was "why come after bump stocks." The answer is still the same, "the deadliest mass shooting in US history." Even if it was staged, and even if you're a real conspiracy nut and you want to tell me that other true full-auto weapons were used and the bump stocks were just planted, that is still the answer to the question: Lots of people died, the media told us bump stocks are scary, legislation rolled out to ban bump stocks, and the company shut down under bad press.
As someone who believes in the Second Amendment I am opposed to gun bans in general. Hell, I think even full autos should be legal. But bump stocks? Eh. I won't miss them. They were only ever a novelty for idiots to screw off at the range. They can make you slap the trigger faster, yes, but you can do the same trick with only your finger, and you sacrifice accuracy. Paddock was able to kill a bunch of people this way only because he had a vantage point firing into a crowd and accuracy did not matter. Bump stocks are only good as a novelty or for spraying indiscriminately into a mass crowd, so, they may un-ironically be a good thing to get rid of.

I’ve come to learn that anybody who brings up a loss of accuracy when discussing bump stocks is just using buzz words and doesn’t know what they are talking about and most likely Isn’t pro-gun at all. If bump stocks are nothing but “a novelty for idiots” why does the military give soldiers select fire weapons? If you practice enough with a bump stock I believe you can get pretty close to the same efficiency as an actual full auto weapon.

Have you ever bump fired something? You are using the weapon's recoil to activate the trigger repeatedly. This is not a particularly accurate or controlled means of firing the weapon.
A true selectable firearm is more controlled. Nothing like 3rd burst for entry and clearing. Can't do that with a bump stock.
