It’s like any FPS. Sure you can apply some of the stuff you’ve learned. Sure it’s fun to LARP and do cool guy stuff. But you’ll still be surrounded by children and manchildren playing pretend. If that don’t bother you than go nuts.

Can confirm, I once went to an airsoft "training" session with a group of milsim guys. LARP galore, they had full on usmc force recon gear and camo (this is in Europe btw) , we did shooting exercises as if the rifles are accurate past 50 meters. During one of the "scenarios" some cunt lit a fucking smoke grenade and set a bush on fire (this was early July so dry and hot in a forested area). I really wanted to be into it because it would make sense stuff like that would appeal to me seeing as I own and love guns, but nah man it's gay as all hell.

The big problem with the gun community's point of view on airsoft is that it's seen as some kind of training for firefights, which it isn't.

It's better to see it as you'd see STALKER, Red Orchestra or any other FPS you like, but you actually run, and burn fat, instead of accumumating it in front of your PC. You won't learn any valuable fighting skills, but you'll test what kind of gear you find more practical, and get Jow Forums.

It's like three times the price of nerf and barely cheaper then real firearms.

Like for real guns? No, that shit can seriously injure or even kill you, it can crack ribs or rupture spleens and shit.
The most that an airshit gun can do is give you welts or maybe chip a tooth. So invest in a mask or a mouthguard and goggles.

Competition and milsim is 100% garbage, airshit is for 2 things; casual backyard plinking, and informal games of cops and robbers with your friends.

I beg the differ. But then again I played almost exclusively with good people. In the states it's way too many kids and still hormonally imbalanced 20-somethings. Because of it I haven't played in the US.

As for learning: Team tactics mostly. But how to cover properly, bullet avenue (English is not my first language) and a whole lot more is definitely there.

Yes, it's not real. But certain things that you will most likely never actually train properly for with a gun is there, unless you're immortal. Think it's a great complement to my regular shooting.

Chris Costa (yeah yeah) was really popular in Japan. They invited him over. Set him up with a gas blowback to his exact specification (the guns over there have a little more steel and a whole lot of more quality) and set him up for a few matches. He had his friends with him as well. But he was constantly taken out. The Japanese kids just had great strategy.

Who knows how a real gunfight would have turned out. But I think without that team strategy and everything else they've learned things that definitely put them higher up, competitively, compared to most.

There exist particularly expensive brands of airshit, marketed as being suitable for like police and swat to do field training with, but I have no idea if anyone actually uses it. That said, for their price tag, I'll assume that they're pretty good quality as far as airshit goes, probably not zinc castings and ABS plastic.

A decent gas blowback pistol is like $100 or so, then spend like $50 on some magazines, and $20 on some gas, BBs, and I guess goggles, and you're set.

I bought an airshit pistol recently, to see what the fuss was all about. I also listened to some people who suggested that it might be useful for tactical training and shooting scenarios.
Anyway the one I got is a replica of a Glock 17, gas blow back, made by KWC I believe, and holy crap that junk is so finnicky.
Despite watching videos about how to refill the magazine with gas, I can never seem to manage to do it correctly. Even when I did, and I was able to shoot a magazine, it felt like shit. The BBs, as expected of spheric projectiles, have no accuracy to speak off, they pretty much fly randomly.

I don't see how this could ever be of any use for training, and I fail to see how this could be considered a fun activity. It's just frustrating.

As I said, casual backyard plinking and playing informal games of cops and robbers with your friends.

That's what they're for. If you want precision, you want an actual pellet gun with a rifled bore and lead projectiles, those are capable of good precision, and some have power enough for small varmints and birds, should you see it necessary.

KWC guns aren't exactly the highest quality and they're also CO2 powered, which means you're going to have pretty bad FPS fluctuations between each shot, which means shit accuracy. propane/green gas guns are much more regular. CO2 guns are shoot pretty hot, most KWC guns im looking at are in the 450fps range, so if you're using BBs lighter than .28s you're probably gotta have issues with destablization.

HFC makes pretty decent gas blowback pistols and are reasonably priced. you can probably get one on evike for about 100 bucks shipped.

Gas blowback rifles are cool but they're super fucking expensive, and mags are usually 50 bucks a pop with low capacity.

most quality guns can hit man-sized targets at 50m, 100m if you put the effort into modifying your gun. but at the end of the day a sphere is not the best choice for a projectile.

I've tried it and it has to be the most genuinely miserable outings I've had. I'll stick to the range thanks.

airsoft is dope as fuck. I have an airsoft rifle that is exactly the same as my real AR rifle for the most part, so its good practice on running and gunning with your rifle.

I wear all my real gear (plate carrier, helmet, war belt) and try different setups and to get used to running around in my full combat load. lots of faggots here have plate carriers, but have never tried sprinting with them on and whatnot.

I got into mainly for the cardio as running on the treadmill is boring, and running with all my gear on improves my endurance greatly.

airsoft can be extremely good training for close range gunfights, and to help you get used to wearing 40 pounds of gear and still be able to run around. just dont become a sperg and youll have fun.

Jow Forums loves to be Jow Forumsunts about airsoft, and technically they are right - airsoft is not weaponry, but there is some overlap with Jow Forums related activities obviously.

I think the AEG guns are retarded for the msot part, unless you restrict your play to semi auto only with realistic magazine capacities. I have had much fun playing like this with good players.

What is more fun still is the gas blow back pistols at close quarters. It is very good for teaching you the mechanics of semi automatic pistol handling, but conversely, some bad habits may bleed over into real steel so ymmv. All in all though, this mode is the most fun I have ever had with airsoft.

There are a lot of the spergiest people you can imagine at pubs though. My favorite are the guys who are currently serving that don't call their hits because they are "invincible" haha hilarious.
