Red Alert Realistic Units

Jow Forumsommand and Jow Forumsonquer is a RTS released in 1996.

The backstory is that Albert Einstein created a time machine to go back to December 20th 1924, in a attempt to kill..... Adolph Hitler.
He succeeded. WW2 never happened, and millions of lives were saved.

However, without the rise of Nazi Germany a new threat arises. The Soviet Union, unchecked by WW2 expands aggressively, turning it's eyes on the rest of Europe.....

In the game, units had very vague names and models, and there were huge gaps in each sides arsenal, like how the Allies had no air force, and Soviets had no practical troop transportation.

Jow Forums's job is to use real life weapons and structures to fill in units, and even create new units, buildings, and even superweapons.

Rifle Infantry.
Since RA1 takes place in the 50's/60's the main Allied rifle infantry should be armed with FAL's, maybe chambered in .280 but if not they should do more damage and have longer range, one of the Allies greatest strengths is it's infantry.

For additional upgrades and bonuses, Flak Jackets should be a Allied tech, increasing all infantry health by 50%.

Soviet Rifle Troops don't really need any change, the Soviets neglected their infantry, going so far as to not even have any way to heal them.

Thank you for reminding me i love C&C however is better if you talk about the second game for more realistic units
>hurr durr the russians will never build apoc tanks
>or turn southamerica into a giant communisn union to zerg rush USA
Well fuck whoever says so.

Hello sir. Do you have a moment to talk about Aloha snackbars?

back to --->/v/

I started on RA on windows 3.1 and it still has a great campaign to this date IMO. RA2 may still be the best RTS campaign I've ever played, pretty much tied with warcraft 3.

Eat tiberium infidel, Kane is the only true prophet

>>or turn southamerica into a giant communisn union to zerg rush USA
They damn near did in real life lol

The second games campaign is the best in the series, only eclipsed by Tiberian Sun's campaign.

What units are you suggesting?

unable to comply building in progress

Die Waffen, legt an!

>Jeeze Louise...It's Stalin!

>like how the Allies had no air force
They had harriers.
>Soviets had no practical troop transportation
They had flak tracks and later on the bullfrog things that couldn't shoot at the ground for some reason.

Red Alert 1, not 2

>goes back into the past
>no influence from stealing possible German technology before the shift
There should have been a sect that split from Yuri and the USSR that was influenced by pushing German technology.

So we're not counting RA 1,2,3 and YR?

We can focus on all of them, but 1 is the main topic.

What are we doing about the battleships that could shoot across half the map and could be built in any body of water big enough to hold a naval yard ?

>select all boats
CAPTCHA knows what's up.

I'm more scared of the pack of 50 grenadiers who you can glitch into throwing at literally ANY point on the map for insta-death.

Dat Sound Track though

Double barreled tanks arent necessary unless you want them to be different size bores. Instead you can have an auto loader for them to improve the fire rate. The russians IRL have their new tank with an autoloading system and it Does Have a second barrel except that its a different purpose.
> 30mm smoothbore cannon, probably firing APFSDS, designed for attacking helicopters
> it also has a .50cal Gatling on the side too for the same purpose and mowing down light vehicles and infantry

So modern russia effectively has the Mammoth Tank now except not without the same level of armor. The Mammoth and Heavy Tank dont need twin barrels but you could give them the same stats and give the heavy tank an auxiliary Flak Cannon to engage air targets.

Another thing that should have taken place was getting rid of grenaders and bringing back flamer units from the original game.

Give infantry an auxiliary Grenade weapon that they use against vehicles or any target with the non-soft armor types. So they dont spend their time shooting rifles at them.
> The rocket infantry should have a Gun Grenade animation that they use to shoot infantry with a lower damage grenade.

Game balance would kinda go back to the way it was in Dune2000 where everything could kill everything and it was kinda more about how much money you was throwing into units.
> vehicles can be repaired, troops need a medic, russians have tesla soldiers in place of medics so they just cause more damage to everything than bothering to heal them
Honestly russians need a Minigun soldier like pic related rather than a tesla soldier to replace the medic. A powered exoskeleton like the tesla soldiers have would allow it
> now we be like Return To Castle Wolfenstein ubersoldats

Those repair vehicles from TS would also be nifty, just with a slower healing delay. The GDI repair bay thing was a dumb idea, you only need a vehicle for that, just make it heal like 1/3 as fast.

>Tanks
The Heavy Tank should just have one big gun, and don't you dare touch the Mammoth, that is a FEATURE of C&C.
>tanks with flak/Gatling guns
Ehhh, that would break game balance.
>grenadiers
They did do something like that in Red Alert 3, Soveit Concript Molotovs were OP as fuck. Rifle infantry should be good at one thing, killing infantry.
>flamers
The Nod flamethrower troops were the best, the fireball types were garbage.
>repair vehicles
The Allies had Mechanics.
>medic
I think the best choice for Soviet infantry would be a Field Hospital, kinda like the repair depot but for troops.
>Soviet APC
I'd have them just use trucks, not armed or armored like the APC, but can carry more troops.

pic related is the real life russian tank (new generation armata)

To add to this you could have land behemouth tanks IRL like the Mammoth Tank if you give them a Nuclear Reactor as their power source.
> inb4 Thorium Reactor
As long as you deployed it for siege warfare rather than going out in the field on patrol for it to be laid siege to - its worth the expense. This is the kinda thing you use to waylay Baghdad for example.
> it could have deployable landmine flails if anti-tank mines are suspected

Make the fucker practically a 3 lane highway monster and give it all the types of weapons it needs to kill things. With the extra power it has available it can charge a capacitor bank for firing a Laser against incoming missiles, providing decent air defense which is probably one of its main weaknesses.
> 155mm Mortar forward facing on the rear of the turret for indirect fire
> 125mm Cannon with an autoloader
> Retractable fully-automatic 30mm cannon for engaging light vehicles that stray too close so the main weapon doesnt have to be used on them, and for engaging helicopters or low flying planes
> Integrated 15mm chain driven semi-automatic cannon with ballistic calculator which is used for long range precision fire against soldiers, vehicle drivers, etc etc. This is a sniping platform which can probably earn kills up to 3km away against point targets.

I see Fire being a potential weakness, napalm, but that kills almost anything.

Id agree about the Heavy Tank. Since the game doesnt have damage reduction stats its fine to let it do double damage per round (you get both hits up front, which can destroy an enemy unit before it can fire that one last shot)

Field Hospital sounds doable and is realistic. The trucks also sound like something they'd do too, classic retro aesthetic like the nazi trucks in indiana jones movies.

Hey Jow Forums, I've got a idea for Red Alert 4.
>Red Alert 3 Allies win
>Allies round up all the Soviet tech
>An Allied General in charge of securing the time travel tech
>however said General gets word that his 3 sons were killed in the War
>Stricken by grief the General makes a plan...
>he hijacks the time machine....
>he travels to 1846....
>To Germany
>To kill
>Karl Marx
>the General returns to modern day...
>and his sons are alive....
>but the world is FUCKED
>take all the socialist memes at face value, throw in The Jungle, The Iron Heel, Deus Ex, Silent Spring etc
>imagine the most AuthCap (Authoritarian Capitalism) world ever
>three classes of people
>Executives, Stockholders, and Consumers
>Executives are the wealthy, living in literal palaces they are the ruling class
>Stockholders are skilled labor, soldiers, clergy,
>Consumers are expendable labor
>The Corporate Alliance
>faceless illuminati style high tech weapons
>their opposition is the Consumer Union
>called the Union, they are a rag tag group of rebels, using stolen/captured weapons that are very fast to make and cheap
This game is really a parody of socialism, showing that what they thought would happen is complete bullshit.

WE HAVE A NETWORK

No, this pic related is the real Armata. Shown in it's natural habitat: broken down and being towed away during a parade rehearsal.
