I have one of those Nazi swords.
Has a bunch of those oak leaves on the hilt.

Haven't got any photos unfortunately.

This is my replica blade I bought cheap so I won't feel bad when I inevitably break it on something. 10/10 would buy another. Only Chinese stainless steel, but the peasant is content. You'd be surprised how well it cuts.

CRINGE

I had a link realated amazon.com/Collectible-German-Paratrooper-Stainless-Double/dp/B0759QVG9Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1525145302&sr=8-1&keywords=german paratrooper knife

yea thats what I was going for. Made it with a hammered flat piece of spring steel from a busted saw mill blade.

Mine are decorative, but I've hit some things with them without doing any damage. For decorative swords, they can take a lot of hits.

I've got a shitty WW2 mass produced katana and a bunch of wallhangers from when I was a kid. Nothing worth showing off.

I have a Highland Officer's Sword. I've been studying Highland Broadsword at a HEMA class for about two years now so I figured I should get the real thing

I want to get in to HEMA to get in shape. Just never had the time.

I just have cheap ones but the look good on my wall

I was kind of the opposite, I got in shape to get into HEMA because I didn't want to be a fat sweaty nerd playing with swords.

Hope you get the opportunity to give it a whirl sometime user, it's loads of fun

oi m8 u beta bin dem knoifs

that's a lot of sharp things user. Can you use all of them?

>user
misspoke, meant to say "stupid tripnigger"

I've had this for a while but only recently got down to stripping off the coating so I can give it a nice convex edge, it's basically a copy of the Hanwei tacwak with some minor changes. I put some oil soaked sports tape over the handle to see if I can darken the micarta and also to protect the exposed tang from skin oils. Like most cheap swords it's too heavy overall and not quite balanced right but unlike most other cheap swords it's too handle heavy so I'll be removing bits of the guard until I'm satisfied.

A bit of HEMA and kendo covers some of them, but not all.

I'm not fat, just out of shape. But you are right about the sweaty nerd part.

Just actually got a new one today, as a slightly early birthday gift.

Mid 18th century German style hunting sword. Can't wait to make a new sheath for it!

know a guy who bought one of those a while ago
>duller than a marshmallow
>pantographic for some reason
>really loose and noisy
Interesting aesthetics i guess. cool gimmick if you're interested in that stuff

Thats sexy as hell. Whats the length?

18th Century Light Calvary Sabre made by one of the Gill family members (famous British sword makers)

who makes this?

About 24" total.

No clue. Its solidly built though.

I gots two.

One is maternal grandfather's saber from when he was ROTC in high school. The other is a katana (the real deal) that my paternal grandfather got his hands on...somewhere. He was Japanese so he possibly brought it when his family moved to the US in the late 20's.

Anyone here have friends who are also into swords? Having a buddy to play with our swords make me feel less autistic

Attached: sword combat.jpg (1600x1067, 381K)

that's a gunto, it's different from a katana.

>a pair of fedoras missing

nothing personal kid

Oh that makes more sense. The Jap side of the family were all peasants and priests so I always wondered how they got their hands on a katana.

I want to hunt a bear and fight it in melee, I was thinking about using a zweihander, would that be a good choice?

haha epic XD

All that matters is when you get tackled and the bear is on top of you and you have an accessible knife long enough to cut it's throat.

Attached: xv6wzks.jpg (1080x1920, 351K)

If it's a real gunto, that's still cool, but it's just a mass-produced officer sword. There were mass-produced swords in the 16th c. too mind you, so don't let it down you too much, but yeah it's not a 200 years old blade that served in the boshin war or something.

Not really, use a long stout spear with a large head like the people who actually fought large beasts.
Zweihander is a one against many sword design to protect and cover a third person, not a dragonslayer.

THAT IS NOT HOW YOU SHARPEN A SWORD. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

I should like to get a repro of this
>inb4 get out Jow Forums reeeee
Yeah, blow it up your ass, more aesthetically pleasing than our airforce "swords"(ceremonial pieces????)

Takes about 10 seconds to find out that's a Type 98 shin gunto, the nip equivalent of the one above it.

It was the mark for proved blades.

Depending on the date of the Type 98, at least the early ones were supposedly ok and practical... as far as swords were practical in the late 30's that is.

Have a Gus Trim XVIIIb sword, a cheapo Kris Cutlery 1060 beater katana, and a stiletto if that counts. Haven't touched them in ages, they're just sitting in the basement gathering dust. I should probably check to see if the renwax has held up, hopefully they're not rusted...
