The Gen 4 really is better, it has a better grip texture, modular grip panels, and a stainless steel captured dual recoil spring. Glock 19 still reigns supreme among self defense / combat handguns in my opninion.

This. From an ergonomic standpoint, Gen4 is unironically better. Better grip texture, better mag release. Trigger felt better on the one I shot, too, compared to my Gen3, but that could have just been my imagination. Gen4 had teething issues early on for 9mm, because IIRC it was originally developed to help with .40 (that everyone is dumping now), but that's long resolved..
