>"what if we're the real terrorists"
I just started the SFAS 6 week prep program today. If I can't make significant improvement, I won't join. Wish me luck.
good luck user, I've always wished I would've tested myself instead of going for the office job :/
fuck this looks comfy

What jacket is this? Some kind of MOPP/CBRN?
The movie lost all credibility when the seal team on a smash and grab mission started listening to the frog princess.
yep, like drug rug comfy.
While we are posting operator images, I ´d like to post a question that´s come up lately in the Arma 3 clan I play in: are Green Beret sergeants... full sergeants?
I´ve gotten into a discussion with the clan leader. He´s in the army of another nation (Spain, if you must know) and he insists that there are no sergeants in the Green Berets, even though the US Army website and every other source I´ve found states that they are sergeants. Another guy told me that what this guy thinks (and so does he) is that Green Beret sergeants are brevet sergeants: sergeants in name only, without the authority, pay scale and other stuff that would go along with the rank.
But the figure of "brevet" ranks was, according to wikipedia, abolished way back in 1922. Which makes me wonder if the Spanish army guy isn´t just applying to Green Berets something that happens in the Spanish army, but not in the US one.
So what´s the deal? Are they full sergeants or not? Am I wrong in assuming that the modern US army does not use "brevet" ranks anymore?
passing SFAS promotes you to E5 i think
>Are they full sergeants or not
Your typical ODA (army special forces team consisting of 12 dudes) will not have anyone of a lower rank than staff sergeant, e-6. There may be a couple of sergeant e-5's running around, but odds are they're waiting to pick up e-6 on points.
While they are not, strictly speaking, in leadership positions, they still hold the rank and title.
Your Spaniard friend could have used the google to learn this.
They have the full rank and pay of a sergeant, but not the responsibility over personnel as you would see in a normal unit. E-5 is generally the lowest, E-6 are fire team leaders, E-7 are NCOIC, and an officer leads the ODA.
Basically they have the responsibility the next lowest rank would have in the regular service, but it also makes sense to NCO them for garrison purposes, people aren’t going to attempt to fuck with them for starters, and the job demands the higher pay

I'm so glad that bad boy fell off my clothing record. Feel a little weird wearing it out in public, thinking it might betray my power level, but it looks close enough to your average north face that it blends.
>reverse google shows nothing
Story?
I was told you couldn't ride zebras like horses, because they're fucking bastards
Pretty sure Tucker went to do some reporting and they gave him an AK

Story?
Is that Travis Haley?
>Your Spaniard friend could have used the google to learn this.
The guy says he serves in the Spanish special forces and that he´s seen Green Beret privates. A few days ago, he added "it´s a bit unusual but there are privates in the Green Berets, it´s just that they haven´t been promoted to sergeants yet because they´ve just gone in". And he insists that I should believe him that he´s in the special forces (though I have my own reasons not to believe that, like his first reaction to running into an ambush while in a vehicle is to drive the fucking thing uphill, slowing it down, making it impossible for the gunner to engage effectively, and the vehicle in question is a hummvee with no shield for the gunner...).
So one guy is telling me that there are privates in the Green Berets, it´s just that they haven´t been promoted immediately. The other guy is telling me they are brevet sergeants. Meanwhile, I look up in the US Army website and wikipedia and there is nothing about that rank being brevet, and I can´t even find a single mention on google to a Green Beret private. The closest I´ve found was a corporal, and I think that was one guy way back in Vietnam, so...
>They have the full rank and pay of a sergeant, but not the responsibility over personnel as you would see in a normal unit. E-5 is generally the lowest, E-6 are fire team leaders, E-7 are NCOIC, and an officer leads the ODA.
Makes sense that if everyone´s a sergeant and there are no privates below, then they can´t really be giving orders to each other like some kids playing COD.
And as you point out, yeah, I´d assume that special forces guys get promoted so the rank and file listen to them when they are operating together, since in those cases the spec ops guys are likely to be far more competent and in the know when it comes to making decisions on the field.
That's a horse painted like a Zebra
>Antarctic service medal
Just imagine the kind of crazy spook ops he was on.
Probably just guarding a science outpost during the Falkland Island conflict.
That makes perfect sense, and I don't know why I didn't consider that
>The guy says he serves in the Spanish special forces and that he´s seen Green Beret privates.
SOF support units can have privates in them, but they wouldn't have the green bean and long tab.
>like his first reaction to running into an ambush while in a vehicle is to drive the fucking thing uphill
SOPs vary, but yeah, he sounds like a larper, given that it's arma and its spain.
how do we look guys?

What is the story on this one I've seen it many times before. Delta or seals? Combat or training?
dude looks like he's in black face
Which one? THOR has some good shit but I wouldn't recommend trying their plans without a solid athletic base. Same goes for the Military Athlete shit. If you're new to the whole fitness thing, focus on nailing the APFT, your 5 mile run, and basic strength training.
because he is. Look at the guy in the background, hes applying the paint on his hands, no way a black guy can have hair like his.
Some clowning around
>"In the ensuing fire fight, SGT John Wayne Walding had his leg nearly severed by single shot. Walding applied a tourniquet to his leg, autoinjection of morphine and folded his mangled leg upward into his crotch and tied two bootlaces to his belt in order to retain his ability to move and shoot."

I wonder what these guys do when they're not operating.

Doing THOR. I've been doing fitness for a few years now. Mostly focusing on the strength aspect, but have been leaning out the last six months

Your average amerimutt, ladies and gents.
I failed 24 hours from the end of assessment...
My rhabdomyolysis was going to kill me so I stopped...Not like I was able to walk anyways
Better a bong than a Commie terrorist.
Also, kids always ran up to soldiers in NI, because you know, guys with guns are cool as fuck.
Holy shit, man. That sucks. Like, that really sucks. I'm sorry to hear that. Got any words of wisdom? Can you write out what was going on when you had to quit?
I quit while we were doing some CBRN stuff, nothing hard, I was just at that point...
Id say you never have enough endurance, like running, bodyweight squats, planks... That's some stuff we tend to neglect.. a strong back and strong quads will carry you a long way.
depending on what you apply for, be sure you're comfortable being thrown into water at night, in stressful moments or claustrophobic situations, breathe and clear your mind.
If you're not cheating, you're not trying! I wish I had brought some whey and maybe caffeine pills( Though on the long run that would be detrimental)
HYDRATE HYDRATE HYDRATE! Lots of water and don't forget top sodium.
Final thought, this isn't a competition. If 100% of the people suck, they might take no one, if everybody rocks, they might take everyone. You're better off lifting people up than letting them fail, just make sure if you help someone that you also need to excel at whatever thing you're doing, being last because you helped is still being last.
There you europoors go again. Pointing out my faults while your culture is being destroyed.

what do people count as operators? people in combat zones? grunts in combat zones? special operations forces? a lot of these pictures are of some grunts or sometimes even pogs in training
That actually helps a lot. I don't have access to any kind of pool, which sucks, or I would be doing a lot more swimming.
