previous thread >I want a knife recommendation Answer the following questions:
Do you want a fixed blade or folding knife? What size knife do you want? What is your intended use for the knife? What is your budget? Are there any specific features that you want? Are there any relevant knife laws/restrictions in your area?
>I want to identify a knife Take clear pictures of the knife from both sides If there are any markings on the knife, take clear macro shots of them.

Someone on here shilled me the Cold Steel Kukri. I must say, that is one Hell of an all rounder; I can chop, cut, batter, ax, hatch, and etc.. Pretty damn good steel for 30 bucks. Since I paid 30 for the blade, then I think like 7 bucks -- or less to have it sharpened to a razor edge on a grinder, then stoned, and stropped. What ever black finish they use is strong as shit. Also be sure ONLY to get the ones that were made in S. Africa. These are better made, fit, finished.
The Undertaker Bowie is good if you want a semi-historical look, the Operator if you like modern looking ones. >$100-200 Svord Bowie (pictured) is nice for a smaller one and the Von Tempsky if you want a big beater.
I'd also check out Himalayan Imports. Their main product line is in khukris, but they do make some bowies. The AK Bowie is an absolute monster. I had one and I'm not sure I could have broken it if I tried. The Cherokee Rose is nice and is leaner and closer to a historical bowie than the thick beast that is the AK Bowie.
Watch their subforum on Bladeforums for deals on discounted or blemished knives.
>$200+ Plowshare Forge has some bowies that hover around $175-225. They'll be a bit rough and need some cleaning up to do. I also hear the owner can be a bit of a pain to work with. However, for a handmade bowie made entirely by one guy, it's a pretty good price.
Some of the cheaper Bark River bowies can be had around $250 like the V-44 (pictured)
There's also Blackjack Knives for more military style knives that go for $200-250 that are made by Bark River.
