How often do you guys clean your guns?
How often do you strip them down and deep clean?
I have a friend who never cleans his guns. Claims modern guns don't need it, and modern ammo is non corrosive.

when i had 1 gun i cleaned it everytime i shot it sometimes i would just clean it for fun
with 10+ guns fuck it. run a boresnake through it and only care about cleaning the rest when it jams.
I swab the bore with bore snake after every trip to the range. Give everything a quick wipedown with some balistol, and use an old toothbrush to get the worst of the carbon deposits off. I do a deep clean every 1,000 rounds or so.
I inherited a stainless steel 9mm s&w 9253 that my grandpa willed me. My grandma refused to give it to me until I was in my late 20's. It sat uncleaned from the last time he had fired it for almost 10 years. The only rust is some tiny specs on the serrations on the outside of the slide. The internals and bore are still in near perfect condition.
Anytime I take it home from the range, also if I haven't touched it in a while about once every four or so months (I live in a pretty dry area so rust isn't much of an issue).
Not white glove clean mind you, just a quick spray and wipe with some ballistol to get rid of the worst of the carbon.
I haven’t cleaned my bushmaster AR in over 3 yrs and every time I take it to th range it just works. I’m gonna let it go until it doesn’t go bang anymore and then clean it. Also, I feed it a mix of wolf and 5.56, mostly steel thought.
I deep clean right when I buy something the first time. Milsurp comes fucking filthy, and the sooner you can clear it up and put a clean wax/grease coat on it, the better. It's also a good opportunity to identify missing, broken, or rusted parts. After that, and with all my modern stuff, foaming bore cleaner and a snake and field strip writedown every couple range trips, so maybe 500-1000 rounds? For .22, it's every range trip, and most of the time, the range trip ends because you need a cleaning (small parts sticking in the muck, build up on chamber walls causing ftes, ftf in self loaders caused by shortstrokes and gummed feed ramps)
I do a complete strip down and cleaning after every trip to the range. Sometimes I'll just do it for fun even if I haven't shot in a while.
Just wait until his guns freeze up from carbon build up then laugh and call him a stupid faggot.
How often do I clean my guns? Never, now that I have minions.
Usually run a bore snake every other time
Full strip down when I notice grime
Every time I shoot, not because I think it needs it, realistically I could do every 2 or 3 times. But because I enjoy it and love fiddling with stuff. It’s part of the fun
Why did Granny wait so long?
Do you have pics of the piece?
Every 500 rounds.
2007. Armory at Camp Pendleton.
after every range trip
Deep clean all old/bolt action guns and surplus.
Abuse the LIVING FUCK out of my parts kits (because my AK can take it and I want to see how far my FAL will go)
Clean handguns deep every time, but my version of deep and yours probably aren’t the same. Handguns are a bitch to fully strip.
I almost never clean my AR. spray some ballistol on the BCG before use and call it good. I've detail cleaned it once in the five years I've owned it, and I feed it almost exclusively steel cased ammo. I've been through multiple thousand round cases of wolf, tula, and silver bear. Rifle just keeps on running.
I clean my revolver fairly regularly just to keep it looking pretty though.
froze up last time, guessing from no lube
I cleaned it once in 2006. Smoked at least 3 hadjis. I had a 2 for 1 deal.
Run a patch through the barrel every couple of range trips. Full cleaning before I put them away for a while. Full cleaning once per year for every gun.
After every range trip I'll run patches through the barrel, do a field strip, and wipe everything down with a solvent rag. Then I'll relube it up and reassemble. It usually takes me about 15-30 minutes per gun. I like it, it's therapeutic.
I guess, I'm OCD. I clean after or the day after my range trip. If, I shoot my home defense gun or my EDC, those get cleaned right after the range trip
